The one product I didn't expect to buy this Black Friday was a pair of smart glasses, but Amazon has such amazing discounts (up to $120 off) that I couldn't resist

I've never owned a pair of smart glasses before, and I'm not 100% sure what the term "smart glasses" really means either. But do I want a pair? Absolutely. These Black Friday deals are still live right now (I just double-checked) and are proving that smart glasses are more affordable than I initially thought, with now being the perfect opportunity to give them a try.

From some quick research, I've learned that specific smart glasses usually have different skill sets. For example, there are augmented reality (AR) glasses for gamers, to specs with live-streaming cameras built-in for content creators, and even audio glasses with headphones and ChatGPT assistants built in too.

VITURE Pro XR/AR Glasses
Premium choice
VITURE Pro XR/AR Glasses: was US$499 now US$399 at Amazon

Save $100: These AR/XR specs from VITURE offer a new immersive way to experience content on a larger display, and from researching these glasses, it seems that it's essentially like wearing a 135-inch portable USB monitor on your face.

They can plug into your desktop and consoles (including the Nintendo Switch) but that's not all, these glasses have a 120Hz refresh rate, spatial photo and video, plus features like VR videos and multiple screen options (just imagine this on your next flight).

Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses: Wayfarer
For Social
Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses: Wayfarer : was US$299 now US$239 at Ray-Ban

Save $60: I've always been sceptical of anything created by Meta (although I love my Meta Quest 3 VR headset) but I'd definitely be willing to give the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses a try, as I've heard positive things, and this Black Friday deal is the perfect excuse to try them out.

These specs have Meta AI built-in, plus an ultra-wide 12mp camera, and open-ear speakers. They certainly look smart too and come in a range of styles, can be polarized for outdoor use, and be fitted with prescription lenses.

Solos Smart Glasses AirGo 3: was US$199 now US$159.20 at Amazon

Save 20%: These audio glasses from Solos might not look like much, but have a lot of hidden hardware and AI features that make them pretty premium. For example, there's a touch sensor on the side for controlling volume, and hidden USB-C charging.

But what do they do? These specs have seamless interaction with ChatGPT-4o mini for answering your questions, and there's also SolosTranslate for interpreting speech in real time.

XREAL Air 2 Pro AR Glasses
For on-demand immersion
XREAL Air 2 Pro AR Glasses: was US$399 now US$349 at Amazon

Save $50: I'm starting to realise that a lot of these smart glasses have similar names, but this pair of XREAL Air 2 Pro's differ from the glasses above. With these specs, you can enjoy a spatial display and experience 2D apps in a 3D space, by pairing them with the XREAL Beam Pro, an AR device companion.
