Rumors have swirled for years that Starbreeze is developing a re-imagining of the real-time tactics game Syndicate. Today the rumor became fact, as a wealth of information was accidentally added to the EA Origins store early.
The Syndicate reboot, according to NeoGAF, takes place in the year 2069. The world is now under the control of megacorporations known as Syndicates. These corporations will do whatever it takes to wipe out their competition. Their soldiers in this war are Agents, heavily-armed operatives with chip augmentations.
The player will take on the role of Miles Kino, Eurocorp's latest Agent. You'll experience a "brutal action adventure of corruption and revenge." The story was written by author Richard Morgan, who also penned Crysis 2.
The reboot of Syndicate will be an action shooter rather than a strategy game. The game's said to include nine missions based on the original Syndicate, though. It will support online co-op for up to four-player online. Agents have a wide variety of upgradeable arsenal at their disposal, in addition to powerful chip augments. The augments will allow you to slow down time, see through walls and hack electronics, among other things.
There was no mention of the release window or platforms for the game. Perhaps we'll find out when EA has a chance to formally announce the game
