Today the PS3 exclusive shooter Resistance 3 is arriving in North America. Insomniac Games is marking the occasion by releasing a launch trailer and revealing the game's first downloadable content.
Resistance 3 picks up four years after the second game. Former Sentinel Joseph Capelli no longer fights the Chimera invaders; instead, he is in hiding with his wife and song. However, Dr. Fyodor Malikov arrives with a "cure" for the Chimera virus and Capelli is compelled to help defeat the invaders once and for all. He must make a dangerous journey from Oklahoma to New York City.
"This brutal alternate 1957 America is our most polished take on the Resistance universe yet," said Insomniac's James Stevenson on PlayStation.Blog. "Along the way, you’ll see the dust storm from a Chimeran Terraformer, a flooded town, young rebels fighting to take back St. Louis from the Chimera, haunted mine towns and a snow packed New York City. To make it even better, you can experience the whole game in 2-player co-op, either split-screen or online. Still not sold? Check out the launch trailer –which gives you the first-ever glimpse at the 12th and final R3 weapon: The Cryogun."
The game's first DLC, dubbed the Survival Pack, will add a multiplayer mode called Invasion. In an Invasion match, teams try to hold onto multiple control points on the map. Also included in the Survival Pack and four new skins and a static XMB theme. The DLC is due on October 4th and will be accompanied by a free patch that adds two new maps.
Resistance 3 will arrive in Japan and Australia on September 8th. The European launch will occur on the 9th.
