Today the Xbox 360 exclusive shooter Gears of War 3 hit stores throughout North America and Europe. Gears 3 closes out the trilogy that began in 2006.
In GoW3, humanity is on its last legs. The few remaining survivors on the run from the Locust Horde as well as the mindless Lambent. Delta Squad must undertake a desperate last mission in hopes of saving mankind from extinction. The campaign can be played with up to three other players online.
Horde Mode, in which players fight off waves of Locust, returns with improvements such as boss fights and purchaseable defensive structures. A new Beast Mode lets you experience these battles in a whole new way, letting players step into the shoes of the Locusts and kill A.I. humans. The multiplayer is rounded out by several competitive modes, including King of the Hill and Team Deathmatch.
"This is our biggest ‘Gears’ game yet, and even though it’s the third installment in the trilogy, it’s the easiest to jump into if you’re a new fan,” said design director Cliff Bleszinski. "We’ve added more cooperative gameplay options and built in accessibility features throughout the game to make it approachable and fun for new players and series veterans alike."
In my review of GoW3, I called it "one of the most complete shooters on the market." Check it out to find out why.
