Just like nearly everything else this fall, Roma's Europa League campaign is off to a less-than-ideal start, to put it mildly. After beginning the season with an unexpected managerial change, fueled partly by Daniele De Rossi's inability to get results on the pitch, Roma's pivot to Ivan Juric has produced more of the same. While Juric has a more definitive tactical profile than his younger predecessor, the veteran manager has failed to improve on De Rossi's meager record as Roma manager, dropping points in four of his first six matches at the helm
The new edition of the Europa League, where all 36 teams are considered one giant league rather than disparate, semi-related groups, may offer more chances for success. Still, with only one point through their first two fixtures, the Giallorossi are mired in 27th place. While Juric has time to improve Roma's Europa League lot, there is no time like the present, doubly so if you believe the rumors that his job may depend on today's result.
But that's a matter for another day. In the here and now, Roma's task is to tame Dynamo Kyiv, winners of five of their past six matches. There may be a sizeable gulf between the Italian and Ukrainian leagues, but with Roma's attack scuffling at the moment, three points are far from assured.
The lineups are in, so let's get down to business!
