The Manufacturers’ Shipments, Inventories, and Orders (M3) survey provides broad-based, monthly statistical data on economic conditions in the domestic manufacturing sector. The survey measures current industrial activity and provides an indication of future business trends.

Special Notice: As part of the ongoing effort to improve the Advance Total Manufacturing estimates, the October 25, 2024 release of the September 2024 data includes the addition of the Food products and Chemical products early shipments and inventories estimates from the monthly Manufacturers' Shipments, Inventories and Orders Survey. These estimates are available on both a seasonally adjusted and not seasonally adjusted basis and are included in the Advance Total Manufacturing Estimates file on the M3 website under the " Latest Monthly Advance report on Manufacturers' Shipments, Inventories and Order".
