Solid Waste Management and Recycling

All Cayuga County residents (businesses excluded) are encouraged to attend this free Electronics Recycling Collection Event! If you have old electronics that you need to get rid of, this opportunity is perfect for you. We will accept pretty much any electronic devices at the event with exception to: items containing Mercury or Freon (aka refrigerant), hazardous chemicals and other wastes, smoke detectors, large household appliances, alkaline batteries, etc. Follow this LINK to find more information about acceptable and unacceptable items. 

You must register to drop materials off at the Central Location - Instructions for how to register are below.

Event Details

After Christmas each year, trade in your old tree for a free seedling! The Cayuga County Trade-a-Tree for a Tree program offers residents an opportunity to recycle their Christmas tree in exchange for a conifer seedling. It's fast, easy, and free!

The Cayuga County Soil and Water Conservation District will take your old tree to chip it into mulch and provide you with a certificate for a tree seedling to be picked up in the spring. Certificates are redeemable at the Annual Conservation District Spring Tree & Shrub Sale.

Limits

Trees must be free of decorations, tinsel, wraps or any other foreign objects.
