Mea culpa.
I was not at the RR Yard for the game. Watched in the SeedyDome. With a couple of pals, one of whom — Bookstore Billy — I haven’t seen for awhile and is in from out of town. And Smarts. Then Billy’s son came by.
Given that the game got out of hand in the good guy’s favor early on, our distractions and bon mots and diversions and rehashing of tales told many times over took over the afternoon.
Usually, as odd as it may seem, I take copious notes from which I cull the swill I pass along as a game report.
Saturday I jotted down less than 20 words after the half, at which time Louisville led 27 zip.
Here they are quoted in toto.
In the 3d:
“Bell 68 y bobble sideline TD”
“FG”
In the 4th:
“Corey Thornton pick”
“3 QB 3 picks”
“TS still in game?”
“Dan Furman RB”
The last of which is of the most important for the future. Furman is the chief administrator of 502Circle, and keeping Isaac Brown and Duke Watson in the Schnell is of paramount importance.
Show ‘em the Benjamins.
Why injury-prone Shough was still calling signals late, with THE big game of the year a week away made no sense to me. Or any of my fellow watchers.

At this juncture, with a 37-9 walkover at the hands of the reeling Panthers following a still dumbfounding meltdown in Palo Alto, there is but one outcome left to make this season one to remember with a smile a time zone wide.
And it ain’t beating Iowa Northern A&M in the Poulan Pop Tater Mayo Bowl.
It’s getting out of Kroger with all the goodies. For the first W over Arch Rival since Lamar.

I Brown averaged 7.2 yards on 13 carries.
D Watson 6.3 yards on 11 carries.
K Brown, 5.8 yards on six totes.
All three are good. The first two spectacular.
They were aided by OL play that dominated the whole night. Except for that safety. Which play call was sort of weird.
The defense fashioned 7 TFLs, plus those three interceptions, two by Stanquan Clark.
The rushing totals: 212-75 favor the Cardinals.
Brock Travelstead was money.
The game was won, it says here, during Pitt’s second possession when Pitt Starter Eli Holstein went down on an Ashton Gillotte sack. And got up in a leg brace, spending the rest of the game helmetless on crutches.
37-9 Cards.
And, it really wasn’t nearly that close.
For U of L’s season to satisfy, a W next Saturday is imperative.
