BRAINERD — The 60-year-old Onamia man who died Sunday, Dec. 29, on County Highway 23 in Crow Wing County was identified as James Gregory Nickaboine.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at 4:30 p.m. in Maple Grove Township, southeast of Brainerd.
According to the report
, deputies arrived on scene and found a Ford Ranger was traveling south on the highway when it left the roadway and crashed into the ditch near the 8000 block of County Highway 23.
Nickaboine was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nickaboine was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The crash is under investigation by the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
The Minnesota State Patrol, North Memorial Health Ambulance, Garrison Fire Department and Lakes Area Rescue assisted at the scene.
