Boston named one of the world’s most beautiful places for a winter getaway

Here's why Boston was just named one of the most beautiful places for a winter getaway by Afar in a recent travel article.

Boston really shines in the wintertime, according to Afar.

The print and digital travel publication recently released a list of 12 beautiful places to spend your winter getaway and included Boston. It was the only New England spot on the worldwide list.

Here’s what Afar wrote, in part, about Boston:

Will you need layers for a snowy-season trip to Boston? Sure. But for a city break with all the totems of winter, Boston delivers. Here you can ice skate on Frog Pond in the Boston Common, warm up with afternoon tea at the Boston Public Library, hear the crunch of snow as you walk through the winter wonderland that is the Arnold Arboretum, watch a hockey game at TD Garden, or window-shop along cobblestone streets with a hot chocolate in hand.

Afar recommends booking a stay at The Newbury Boston, calling it one of the city’s best hotels. The hotel reopened in 2021 after a two-year renovation and was named one of the best hotels in the U.S. earlier this year by the Michelin Guide.

Other destinations on the list include Belize; Charleston, S.C.; and Vienna, Austria.
