Is this you? These days, wrestling a leaf blower across the lawn is as much fun as watching the Boston Bruins play of late. Well, here is one solution to your yard woes: This Medford condo building discarded the annoyance of landscaping for the pleasure of off-street parking by paving over the grass. This unit comes with one parking space.
Our Home of the Week is 0.8 miles from Ball Square Station on the Green Line, so you can leave your car at home. Need to take the highway to get catch the Bs on the road? Interstate 93 is less than a mile away, too.
From the sidewalk, stairs with a substantial black railing on the left side of the building end at the front porch and the entries to both units. The unit featured here is a single-floor setup.
A black Craftsman-style front door opens into the living area, which shares a 426-square-foot space with the kitchen. Both are dotted with recessed lights and exemplify the gut renovation this unit has undergone, one that brought the 113-year-old building into this century. The flooring is a high-end luxury vinyl plank with a wood-like appearance. In the living area, four muntin-less double-hung windows line one wall, and a gas fireplace is nestled in shiplap.
An island with seating for two and a quartz counter with waterfall edges marks the start of the kitchen. Two pendant lights that look like overturned woven baskets cast a warm glow on the light-colored surface.
The kitchen’s apron sink sits under two casement windows. (No crud left on your plates here.) The Shaker-style cabinets are white with black handles, the appliances are stainless steel, and the same pretty quartz is used for the backsplash.
A hallway off the kitchen stretches into the unit’s bed and bath areas. The first door on the left is a 33-square-foot storage room. The 53-square-foot windowed laundry room is up next.
The primary suite is the first door on the right off the hallway, and the aesthetic is moody elegance. The walls, trim, and ceiling of the 130-square-foot bedroom are painted a dark wedgwood blue. Other highlights include double-hung windows, recessed lighting, a walk-in closet that’s 8 feet deep, and an en-suite bath. The bath also a double floating vanity topped with quartz, the same quartz found in the kitchen and in the glassed-in shower. The shower floor is a herringbone tile.
The second full bath is across the hall on the left. It has a shower/tub combination with black fixtures and quartz for the shower surround and the counter of the floating vanity. The flooring is ceramic tile in a herringbone pattern.
The 60-square-foot second bedroom sits down the hall and on the right. It’s currently outfitted as an office with a wood slat accent wall. The space offers a window, recessed lighting, a closet behind a pair of sliding doors, and direct access to the back balcony.
The heat is gas, and the unit has central air. The monthly fee covers the reserve funds and master insurance.
The Medford unit comes with exclusive use of a heated basement area.
