Jay Leno is apparently a firm believer in the aphorism “the show must go on.”

An eyepatch-wearing Leno told reporters for Inside Edition and TMZ that he performed a stand-up show in the Pittsburgh area despite sustaining injuries to his head and wrist caused by a fall down a 60-foot hill.

As Leno described it, while staying at a Hampton Inn outside of Pittsburgh, he wanted to dine at a restaurant located at the bottom of a long and winding road. After deciding to take a shortcut down a steep embankment, the 74-year-old comedian ended up falling.

“I broke my wrist, lost my nail on the finger,” Leno told “Inside Edition.” “And I’m all black and blue.”

Incredibly, Leno claimed that before eventually going to a hospital, he performed his stand-up set for a full crowd.

“I’ve got a show tonight,” Leno told TMZ. “It’s not that big a deal.”

The former “Tonight Show host” — who was raised in Andover, graduated from Emerson, and got his start in comedy on the Boston stand-up circuit — has had rough luck involving injuries in recent years.

In November 2022, Leno suffered severe burns from a gasoline fire in his garage, requiring surgery and skin grafts.

Two months later, Leno suffered a broken collarbone, two broken ribs, and two cracked kneecaps when he ran into a wire while riding a 1940 Indian motorcycle, flinging him from the vehicle.
