Presenting our full range of pillows, duvets and mattress protectors
When it comes to buying a new bed, pillows and duvets are often the last thing on your mind, but they shouldn’t be. Bedding can be just as important as choosing your mattress.
Here we talk you through all the factors you need to consider when choosing the right pillow and duvet for you.
Sizes
I’m sure most of us have used the same logic- whatever size bed you have, opt for same size duvet. That seems about right doesn’t it? Yet when your partner is hogging the quilt and you’re left with a mere sliver, you’ll wish your duvet had a bit more to give. Go for a size bigger! If you have a double size bed, invest in a king size duvet. Your other half can drag that duvet over to their side and you’ll still have plenty to stave off the chills. A double duvet for a single bed can be quite handy too, so why not give older kids the option to size-up their duvet too?
- Single size duvet – 135 x 200cm (53 x 79inches)
- Double size duvet – 200 x 200cm (79 x 79 inches)
- King Size duvet – 225 x 220cm (89 x 87 inches)
- Super King size duvet – 260 x 220cm (102 x 87 inches)
Tog rating
A duvet’s tog rating tells you how well a duvet will trap warm air. The higher the tog rating, the warmer the duvet. Duvets start at a tog rating of around 3, which would be an ideal summer duvet. A tog rating between 7 – 10 is perfect for chillier spring or autumn nights and a tog rating over 10 is for those colder winter months. You can even choose a higher tog duvet if you like to be super warm during the night no matter the season.
Fillings
There is an array of fillings to choose from when buying your new duvet. From the more traditional feather duvets to the ones with polyester or microfibre-fillings. To anti-allergy duvets and those with temperature-regulating fibres, there is something for everyone. However warm and cosy feather duvets may be, they may irritate those who suffer with allergies, so it’s important to ensure you choose one with anti-allergenic fibres. Synthetic fillings are lightweight, hypoallergenic and dry faster after washing.
