Obituary: Richard A. Ebest
November 9, 1943 – October 25, 2023
Richard “Rick” Anthony Ebest passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by the love of dear friends on October 25, 2023. Rick was a long time resident of Aspen since 1969.
Born in San Antonio, TX to Theodore and Marguerite Ebest, he was the youngest of two children. In his youth, he lived in Morocco for several years and later graduated from high school in Rome, NY. He then attended college on Oahu before his wonderful life brought him to Aspen.
Rick served the Aspen community with a smile throughout his career in the restaurant industry, always enjoying the local “Aspen Vibes.” He was an avid skier and wonderful man to all who knew him.
Rick will be remembered for his adventurous spirit and love of nature. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Barbie (Ebest) Maspero of Belton, TX. He is survived by his brother-in-law Louis Maspero, nieces Lisa Barca (David), Marci Petter (Kurt), Andrea Billeck (Billy Joe), and LuAnne Maspero-Ross (Matt); nephew Matthew Maspero, great nieces Katie Putnam (Josh) and Mallory Mikes (Codey), and his great nephews Randy Barca, Koby Petter, and Britt Billeck; great great nephew Carson Mikes, and great great nieces Bentley Mikes, Presley Mikes, and Parker Mikes.
The family will hold a private ceremony in his honor. In lieu of flowers, Rick requested that loved ones please consider a donation to the Air Force Family Support Programs (afas.org).
Four men arrested for Aspen jewelry burglary
The Aspen Police Department arrested four men Tuesday for allegedly burglarizing Avi & Co. jewelry between late Sunday night and early Monday morning.
