Brookland man dies in weekend traffic accident

A man died in a vehicle-related accident on an Arkansas road on Friday, according to preliminary reports from the Arkansas State Police.

Michael Barber, 46, of Brookland, was traveling west on Craighead County Road 948 -- just east of County Road 973 in rural Craighead County and off Arkansas 230 -- when the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica he was driving traveled off the roadway, according to the report.

The vehicle fell into a ditch off the north side of the road, causing it to roll over several times. The vehicle then came to a rest in a cotton field roughly 100 feet north of the county road, the report states.

An officer investigating the crash noted that the weather was clear and the road was dry at the time.
