The Apple Education Community (“Community”) and all Apple services are designed from the ground up to protect your privacy. We work hard to collect only the data we need to make your experience better. When we collect data, we believe it’s important for you to know what we’re collecting and why we need it, so you can make informed choices.
Providing the Community
The Community is an online platform that consists of the Learning Center, the Forum, and access to other private, invitation-only Apple Groups. The Learning Center provides resources on how Apple products can be used for teaching and learning, and allows you to earn recognitions such as Apple Teacher, Apple Teacher Portfolio, and Apple Teacher Swift Playgrounds. The Forum is a collaboration site with features such as interest areas and public/private Apple Groups where educators can access additional resources, create and share content, connect with peers, and provide commentary.
When you register for the Community, your Apple ID information such as name and email address, and information you provide such as your school, city, state/region, communication preferences, and preferred language will be used to create your Community profile and provide a personalized learning experience. If the Forum is available in your country or region , you can create a user name during registration and add additional information to your profile, such as your job title, teaching experience, registration date, photo, and contact information. Your Community user name will always be visible to other registered users. All other information in your profile will be hidden from other registered users unless you choose to make it visible.
If you choose to earn a recognition offered by the Learning Center, Apple may collect information on your completion of required activities, such as interactive quizzes and submission of materials. This information is added to your profile and is used to create an up-to-date progress report of your participation in the Apple Teacher Program as well as an official certificate of recognition when you gain Apple Teacher recognition. You can download your progress report, certificate of recognition, and copies of your submissions in the Learning Center.
If you choose to participate in the Forum by posting text, images, videos, or attachments, Apple may review your content using Apple and third-party technologies to enforce the Forum Guidelines, available at education.apple.com/en/resource/250009673. Apple may also receive information on user engagement and reporting. For example, information on how other users view, comment on, or report your content and how you interact with other registered users and their content will be visible in the Forum. As part of their participation in the Forum, users may post content that includes links to third-party websites, services, or content. If you choose to click on, play, or otherwise engage with this third-party content, data such as your IP address and browser information may be collected and processed by the third party managing that content or service. Any such processing is subject to the third party’s privacy policies. For information about the data processed by these third parties, contact them directly. Content posted in public areas of the Forum may also be visible to unregistered users and included in search engine results.
Apple’s websites, online services, interactive applications, and advertisements may use “cookies” and other technologies such as web beacons. These technologies help us to better understand user behavior including for security and fraud-prevention purposes, to tell us which parts of our websites people have visited, and to facilitate and measure the effectiveness of advertisements and web searches. For more information, see the Cookies and Other Technologies section of Apple’s Privacy Policy at www.apple.com/privacy.
Communications
When you register with the Community, you have the choice to receive related communications. Apple may respond to your post directly in the Community and, if the preferences you set permit it, Apple may contact you outside the Community via email. For example, you may receive reminder emails for posts if you have not visited the Community for a certain period of time, emails on new features, a reminder to respond to answers that have helped you or solved your questions, or a survey on improving the services offered at the Community. You can manage your communications preferences by going to education.apple.com/#/home/profile/membership.
Membership Cancellation
If you cancel your membership, you will no longer be registered with the Community. Information related to your Learning Center recognitions will be disassociated from your Apple ID and deleted after one year. Any content you shared in the Forum will be displayed with an anonymized user name, but your user name will continue to be associated with your Apple ID. If you register again with the Community using the same Apple ID, your Learning Center progress will be reset, but the content you shared in the Forum prior to membership cancellation will be attributed back to your user name.
Account Deletion
If you make a request to delete your Community account by submitting a request to [email protected], you will no longer be registered with the Community and all personal data associated with your Community profile will be deleted, including information related to your Learning Center recognitions, your Forum user name, and any content you shared in the Forum. You will also be unable to register again with the Community using the same Apple ID.
Data Retention
