Materials and tools to make paper Christmas Ornaments
- Paper: I really like using this card stock on lots of craft projects. It is easy to cut with scissors, and strong enough to hold the bauble shape.
- I used metallic strings to hang the ornaments. You can also use hemp twine , peppermint twine, or thin ribbons.
- You can get small wood beads here and paint them, or find some bead necklaces at a thrift store.
- Craft glue, hot glue, scissors, printer, and the free designs you can download in our free subscribers library
See video tutorial below or skip to written step by step tutorial:
Step 1: Print and cut paper ornament designs
You can use either inkjet or laser printer to print the designs on card stock and cut along the outline. You can also reduce the printing size to make smaller paper ornaments, or enlarge the print on two sheets and piece together a bigger Christmas ornament.
Step 2: glue together paper Christmas Ornaments
Use a small cylinder shaped object such as a chapstick to curl each petal a bit. This will make it much easier to glue the paper Christmas Ornaments into a ball shape.
There are 6 petals total. We will be gluing them in 3 pairs.
Put a small dab of glue on the first petal, take the opposite petal and glue these two petals together at the top.
Repeat with the next two pairs of petals, and also glue the new petal onto the previous pair. Check out the video tutorial before Step 1 above if you are not sure on the process.
Step 3: add strings and embellishment
Now we are finished making our paper Christmas Ornaments, we will add strings and embellishments to them.
I used metallic strings to hang the ornaments. You can also use hemp twine , peppermint twine, or thin ribbons.
Cut a piece of string. Tie a knot to form a loop, and push one end of the loop through the bead. Use hot glue to glue the knot to the base of the bead, then to the top of the paper ornament.
There are so many ways to decorate with these paper Christmas Ornaments!
You can hang them in a Christmas tree or just on some branches. They also look pretty on a shelf or as part of a table centerpiece.
