The birth of a baby is always a day to celebrate, even if you're a mama mare! One woman is celebrating big time after her white mare gave birth to the most beautiful black colt. What a pair! And now people online are cheering for the birth after video of the duo was shared online.

Pearl is a proud new mama. And she's a good mama too. Video shows the mare taking her new colt for a stroll. Gotta get the little one some exercise!

We don't know who's prouder, Pearl or her owner. The woman just had to share the exciting news with the internet, so she got a sweet little video of her white mare Pearl and the newborn spending time together.

They were just walking, but to their owner it was everything. Who could resist a new mother caring for her baby colt?

"Everyone meet baby Onyx," the woman wrote in the video's caption.

The comments section was so happy to meet the beautiful babe. "He’s like the little black piano key next to the white one. Awesome," praised one person. "Pearl and Onyx as names for white and black horse are iconic," gushed someone else. "A beautiful moon and her shadow," one person wrote. "Love how baby horses are just so…leggy. It’s wonderful," chimed in another commenter.

Many people had questions about Onyx's beautiful coloring. So his owner shared a video of the colt's daddy. The apple didn't fall far from the tree!

All About Horse Pregnancies

We don't blame the horse owner for celebrating the new addition. Having a baby is a big deal! Especially when you consider how long the typical gestation period is for horses.

Unlike humans, horses can be pregnant for a whopping 340 days. That's about 11 months! Imagine being pregnant for nearly a year. And that time can be longer or shorter depending on whether it's the mare's first baby.

That means that horses typically only have one offspring a year, although it is possible to have twins. Horses have three trimesters in their pregnancies, like humans. When it's time for the mare to deliver, or foal, she'll show signs. Such as, her udder may look full and will have milk. The mare's stomach may also look to be lower in the weeks leading up to the birth.

The long process is all worth it in the end. Just look at the way that Pearl loves her little Onyx. Completely worth it in our humble opinion!
