Chocolate Labrador Lets Toddler Treat Him Like Living Doll and It's the Cutest Thing
Is there any love as pure as that between a dog and his boy? Or maybe we should adjust that to be “toddler’s best friend.” After watching a video like this, where it is clear how deeply the Chocolate Lab and this boy are bonded, you will no longer wonder why dogs are called “man’s best friend.” Caring for an animal can teach children all kinds of valuable lessons about patience, kindness, and personal responsibility. They learn empathy from picking up the non-verbal cues of the animals in their house, and the love of a furry friend can be fundamental to their childhoods. And with a dog as patient as the Chocolate Lab in this TikTok video, the lesson to be learned is profound indeed.
In this clip, we see a happy little boy playing with his dog, who is calmly minding his own business on the couch. The dog is even capable of remaining perfectly still while the toddler places the inside of a rice cooker on his head like a jaunty little cap.
Now that’s a well-behaved doggo.

As the dog looks pleadingly from the boy to his mother (taking the video), obviously not enjoying this little game of dress up with kitchen implements, the boy kisses the dog’s face, then gently and affectionately rests his head against the animal’s flank. It’s true love.
“The dog: Is it nap time yet?” Jokes one person in the comments.
“Come get yo kid,” says another, translating the animal’s expression.
“Our Chocolate Lab will let kids do just about anything and just sit there like ‘Ok, if you insist,’” relates a third.
We truly don’t deserve dogs.
The Gentle Chocolate Lab
Labrador Retrievers tend to come in three different colors: black, brown, and yellow. Black and Brown (or Chocolate) Labs have coat colors determined but he same set of genetic markers, and Yellow Labs have a different set of genes that can override this first set and gift the animal a yellow coat. Depending on the genes of the parents, a littler of purebred Lab puppies can include dogs in all three colors.
(Really makes you wonder about these people who think they can breed only Poodle-coated “Doodles” with Golden Retriever personalities every time they cross a Poodle and a Golden Retriever, doesn’t it?)
The Relationship Between Your Pet and Your Dog
Getting a dog this well-behaved around a small child takes making sure that your dog is well-trained long before you ever bring a baby into your house. Though most dogs have an instinctive understanding that human babies are, in fact babies, and just like puppies, they need gentle, special, and patient treatment, the natural thing for dogs to do to correct their own youngsters is to give them a little nip, so one must make sure that they don’t try that move on a kid.
And the training certainly goes both ways, too. Just as a dog must understand that human babies are delicate, fragile things (more delicate even than the babies of their own species), little children and babies need to know that dogs are living creatures who can experience pain. They must learn to “pet nice” and otherwise treat the animals in their home with patience and respect.
Although they can probably do a bit of goofing around, like these two, especially once that bond is secure.
