Black Lab Feeling Her Future Sister in Mom’s Belly for the First Time Is Precious
That's a future big sister right there. One woman was melting when she saw her Black Lab giving her pregnancy belly the warmest welcome. It's like the Labrador Retriever knows that her soon-to-be baby brother was inside. The two were already bonding, so we can only imagine how close the pair will be once the little one is earthside.
It can be scary to introduce your dog to a baby. But this should make mama Jaden feel like she has nothing to worry about. Her Labrador Retriever is going to love her little brother so much.
The dog was already napping with her mom's belly in the clip. The Lab looked so peaceful as she rested her head on Jaden's stomach. And then something miraculous happened — the baby kicked.
The Black Lab was stunned! "What in the world was that?" she seemed to say. The look on her face was pure confusion. She had no clue what the thumping inside her mother's stomach could possibly be.
"She's going to be the best big sister to her brother," the woman gushed in the video's caption.
Preparing Your House for a New Baby
It can be a little scary to bring your new baby home. While you're running around baby proofing your place, take care to get your dog ready for baby too. You want to make any changes to your home gradually. Changing too much at once might stress your dog out. As you finish up your changes, try and play with your pet in the rearranged space so they can acclimate.
Even if your dog is as gentle as can be, you'll want to be cautious. Use baby gates and secure doors as you enter and exit rooms to prevent dogs from accidentally hurting your child. If your dog tends to be the "velcro dog" type (meaning they follow you everywhere) — try and establish boundaries with them before the baby comes. That means practice separating yourself as you move through the house so they won't be upset when you have to keep them away from your little one.
The biggest obstacle to any new parent is a baby's cries. And boy oh boy do they cry. Remember how dogs have excellent hearing? They'll definitely notice when their baby sibling is upset. Get them used to the new noises using YouTube videos or recordings of babies crying. This also goes for baby smells. Lotions, powders, and ointments all have their own scents. So bring them into your house early and allow your dog to get used to them too.
This should be an exciting time for your family — and it will be! With a little work all your pup will think about is bonding with their soon-to-be favorite human.
