Dishwashers
Troubleshooting:
Why Your Dishes Aren’t Drying

You go to unload your dishwasher, but find your dishes aren’t dry.

Let’s see what’s going on.

Dishes not drying

If you haven’t already, select the highest heat or most powerful drying option your dishwasher provides. If your dishes still aren’t drying, here are a few things to check.

Rinse Aid
Using rinse aid can help improve drying performance. In a load with rinse aid, the water “sheets” off the dishes and interior of the dishwasher. See a video on rinse aid here.

If your dishwasher doesn’t have a built-in rinse aid dispenser, you can find rinse aid baskets that clip onto the top rack of the dishwasher at most grocery stores.

Water temperature
For best results, the water should be 120℉ as it enters the dishwasher. Proper water temperature helps the dishes dry effectively.

How items were loaded
Load items at an angle. This is important, especially for plastic items. For improved results, place items on the more slanted side of the rack.
