Allrecipes' editorial guidelines Updated on August 17, 2023 If you are a pizza lover, most likely you have had the unfortunate dilemma of reheating it the next day. Unless you are a champ of finishing a pie in one sitting, there are always going to be leftover slices lingering around. Well, some may place them in the microwave. Some may place them in the oven. A new method that has taken over the internet, is reheating it in a skillet. That is right. Using your stovetop is also a way! Placing a slice in a large skillet for a couple of minutes, then adding a teaspoon of water on the side and covering it, will result in melty cheese, and a crispy crust bottom. Now what if the teaspoon of water was replaced by beer? This could be a game changer! Why and How to Reheat Pizza on the Stove Reheating in the microwave usually leaves pizza soggy. Ovens tend to take forever and can be a pain when you are short on time. The whole point of the skillet method is to ensure a crispy crust and melty cheese. It also takes less than 5 minutes! Here are the tools you are going to need: 10-inch skilletSkillet cover (make sure it is the right fit)Measuring spoonSpatulaWater (or other liquid) Take any leftover slice of pizza. Have a skillet large enough to fit the slice (10-inch would be sufficient). Heat your pan over medium-high heat. Place the slice into the skillet when the skillet is hot. Let it cook, cheese side up, for a couple of minutes or until the bottom is hot. Take a teaspoon of water (or another liquid you'll see in a minute), and pour it on the side of the pan. Make sure the water does not touch the slice. Cover the pan and let cook for another minute or so. Use the spatula to remove the slice from the pan, and serve. Using Beer to Reheat Pizza Now let's make things interesting. Instead of water added to the skillet as described above, try a light beer. The goal is for the light beer to uplift the flavor of the pizza without overpowering it, unlike a hoppy IPA or bold stout that has a stronger flavor profile. Beer is made with wheat, and it is expected that the pizza could benefit from that malt environment. I used Bud Light, but you can use any light beer (Miller Lite, Stella, etc...). So Does It Work? The resulting slice was perfectly reheated. The crust had a good slight crunch. The cheese was just as melty as a pie right out of the oven. However, I didn't taste any evidence of beer. It may be such a small amount of beer that it doesn't present itself enough in the pizza. In all honesty, water will work just as well. If you are feeling a pizza and beer kind of night, by all means, use the beer to reheat it before using it to wash the slice down. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why!
