Allrecipes' editorial guidelines Published on July 24, 2024 Photo: AllRecipes / Reese Herrington It might say a lot about me to admit that an extremely good way of preserving the life of fresh fruit and vegetables and keeping leftovers from spoiling overnight gets me excited, but here we are. ]When I first discovered Stasher Bags, I was attracted to their aesthetically pleasing array of muted colors. However, it wasn’t until I ordered a few of them and experienced firsthand how effective they are at doing their job that I became obsessed. Today, I own eight Stasher Bags, and I’m about to refresh my collection with the help of Walmart’s wide selection and the fact that the retailer has my favorite half-gallon size on sale. You might think eight is enough, but it’s fewer than I once owned thanks to my Mom, who saw them at my apartment, became enamored, and stole four—which gave me the ingenious idea to gift these bags multiple times over. Stasher Reusable Silicone Half-Gallon Bag Walmart $37 $25 at Walmart These bags come in a ton of sizes, ranging from 10-ounce snack sizes to a full gallon, plus sandwich-sized bags, multi-packs, and even bags with a flat bottom that enables them to stand up straight in your fridge. They’re made out of food-grade silicone and part of their purpose is to replace single-use plastics, like those little baggies we all grew up using, plastic wrap, and takeout containers that you end up tossing once they become marinara-stained. In fact, Stasher’s are smell- and stain-resistant, microwavable, dishwasher safe, and freezable. Plus, in my case, they eased my anxiety that my half-used lemon or avocado (especially avocado) would spoil quickly because it’s so easy to squeeze the air out of a Stasher as you’re pinching it closed, keeping everything fresher longer. 28-Ounce Silicone Storage Bag, 2-Pack Walmart $20 at Walmart In my house, we keep bell pepper slices, carrot sticks, and cucumber spears in the quart bags, halved onions in the 28-ounce bags, and deli meats and cheeses in the sandwich bags. They’re great for marinating meat, packing food for a hike or the beach (and keeping your phone safe at said beach), and toting around toiletries or makeup. I even keep a smaller size in the belt bag I wear while walking my dog to hold his treats, which has prevented them from getting stale and rock-hard, and gives me peace of mind that he’s not ingesting tiny plastic particles from the single-use bags we previously used for too long. My sticky-fingered Mom and I aren’t the only ones who love them. The bags have over 2,000 perfect ratings at Walmart, and shoppers describe them as a terrific value, sustainable, a thoughtful and responsible gift, and a great investment. If you’ve yet to introduce yourself to Stasher Bags, now’s the time to make the change—especially while the most convenient size is on sale at Walmart.
