My dad and I loved black walnut anything. Black walnuts taste very different than English walnuts so I created this black walnut ice cream on his behalf. I like it best topped with caramel sauce or honey.

Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 8 servings

  • 2 cups light cream

  • 1 cup half-and-half

  • ½ cup superfine sugar

  • ½ teaspoon black walnut extract

  • ½ cup chopped black walnuts

Directions

  1. Combine light cream, half-and-half, sugar, and black walnut extract.

  2. Pour mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer's instructions, then fold in walnuts. Transfer to an airtight container and freeze until firm.
