Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 16 servings

  • 1 pound frozen bread dough, thawed

  • ¼ cup salted butter, melted and cooled to room temperature

  • 1 tablespoon beaten egg

  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes

  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder, or more to taste

Directions

  1. Butter a 9x5-inch loaf pan. Cut dough into 16 pieces.

  2. Combine melted butter, egg, parsley, and garlic powder. Dip pieces of dough into the butter mixture, coating completely. Arrange in a single layer in the prepared pan and pour any remaining butter mixture over top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until dough just reaches the top of the pan, about 1 hour.

  3. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

  4. Bake monkey bread in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 25 minutes. Let cool in the pan slightly before serving.

Cook's Note:

You can use white, French, or Italian bread dough.
