Joy Manning is a health writer, recipe developer, and the founding editor of Edible Philly. She is based in Philadelphia and has over 19 years of experience as a writer and editor. Her work has appeared in national publications, including Eating Well, The Washington Post, Women’s Health, Shape, and Food & Wine. Joy was nominated for a James Beard Journalism Award and an IACP award, and her work was anthologized in The Best Food Writing book series.

A self-taught cook, Joy has become a master recipe developer by learning from every chef she interviews and every cookbook she opens. She enjoys teaching plant-based cooking and has given talks on writing, storytelling, and networking.

Joy’s favorite dish to bring to a potluck is hummus.

Education

Joy graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and received a Master of Arts in Creative Writing from Temple University.
