Hershey’s and Reese’s Just Launched a Never-Before-Seen Treat at Walmart

Watch out, TruFru.

Hershey’s and Reese’s are introducing a new line of chocolate products, but you won’t be able to find them in the candy aisle.

Nope, these Hershey Company candies are coming to the freezer aisle to launch a first-of-its-kind line-up for the confectionary leaders: candy-coated frozen fruit.

This is the first time we're seeing the iconic candy makers join forces with whole, frozen fruit, perhaps signaling a whole new era of chocolate snacking. The fruit brings a fresh, flavorful element to the sweet chocolate confections, and storing them in the freezer introduces a new textural dimension from the snappy chocolate shell as well.

These inventive treats have taken the TikTok trend of freezing chocolate-coated fruit and made it easier to indulge in than ever.

Now, if this concept sounds familiar, that’s because Hershey’s and Reese’s aren’t the first ones to enter the candy-coated frozen fruit market. TruFru has become a household favorite fruit brand (and a staple in our Target carts). But, they are the first big brand names to enter the space—and fans can’t wait.

Just buckle up for this line-up of chocolate and fruit combinations. First, you have Hershey's Cookies 'n' Creme Chocolate Covered Strawberries. Next, Hershey's White Creme and Milk Chocolate Covered Blueberries, followed by Hershey's White Creme and Milk Chocolate Covered Raspberries. And finally, the indisputable favorite of the batch: Reese's Chocolate and Peanut Butter Covered Bananas. Yum.

It’s pretty obvious the giant candy brands are riffing off the TruFru recipe with their double-dipped (white and milk) chocolate coatings. No subtly there. But fans aren’t phased by this fact, and are already planning to “hunt them all down.”

These frozen fruit treats have been spotted at Walmart, and fans speculate the product line might be a Walmart-exclusive. Rumor has it, Reese's Chocolate and Peanut Butter Covered Strawberries and Hershey's Cookies 'n' Creme Chocolate Covered Bananas will be the next flavors to hit the market. Have you ever had a peanut butter and chocolate-coated strawberry? We sure haven’t.

These chocolate and fruit flavor combinations sound absolutely delicious, and selling at $6.98 for an 8-ounce bag, the cost is right on par with TruFru.

So, will the big dogs beat TruFru at their own game? TruFru has a well-established variety of treats ranging from dark chocolate-covered cherries to white chocolate and coconut-covered pineapple that will be hard to compete with. But, when flavors like cookies ‘n’ creme and Reese’s peanut butter chocolate come into play, there might just be a chance.
