Delicious! I did have to add quite a bit more liquid. I used 32 oz. of veg broth and 32 oz. of chicken broth. I also simmered it longer, adding about another 25-30 mins. to get the split peas cooked. I added a T of lemon juice at the end to brighten the flavor. We loved the flavor of the seasonings that’s different from the version I’ve made in the past.

I really liked this! I added extra garlic and some salt and pepper, but that is really all I changed. The flavor with the turmeric and herbes de provence was so good!

Big hit with eaters who never liked pea soup. . .ever.Made as directed except used Cajun hot sauce instead of red pepper flakes because prefer a tastier liquid method of delivering mild heat to other liquids.Now we eat split pea soup because it's good!Suggestion: halve the recipe if cooking for two.

I am no fan of split pea soup, but the hubby does. I must say that it was very good. I did not have vegetable stock at hand so I used powdered chicken bouillon. My only advise would be that if you need to use it, rectify the salt at the end but remember that the potatoes will absorb a lot of salt while cooking, so if needed, just add a little bit more. Even if it seems "bland" the potatoes and the ham will make up of any blandness. I used my handheld blender to thicken it and honestly it had a really nice texture. I will make it again and hopefully next time I will have vegetable stock. It was easy and half the recipe still yields for about 4 people. Definitely, good for the cold winter days or nights!
