Not much of what she said and then did makes sense.

I just made this cake for Fat Tuesday! I cut the recipe in half, only needed one King cake. I was a little leery to use all bread flour but I followed the recipe...my filling got too soft and I should have put it in the fridge to firm up before spreading it on the dough. Mine took a little longer than 25 minutes to bake, anyhow just had a slice with coffee, it was tasty but I wish it was more cake-like than bread-like, I will follow my own instincts next time! Thank you for the recipe.

A keeper! Easy to follow Great flavors
The only change is using toasted almond slivers with a smidge of salt on them.I might even try adding an apricot half before baking. Then cover with glaze.Edited: people are disappointed in the amount of jiggle and it not setting. It seems the amount of butter is in question. I used European butter. This has a higher amt of butterfat in it. The richness is altered. I would also only use room temperature butter not fully melted. 😊

Read the reviews before I made this and took note of the one person who said there's never set. As I was putting in the pound of butter it called for I wondered if that was way too much. Yes it was. I watched the video recipe from the actual Palmer House Hotel in Chicago. Yes there's only about a half cup of flour and all those eggs that are called for but when it came to the butter it was nowhere near a pound it was probably about half of that. I would research other recipes and see what you think. However when you see the Palmer House Hotel video you'll immediately see that the chocolate mixture is not the same as what you come out with with a pound of butter. You need much less.
