This is comfort food. My Sicilian/American mom made this at least once a month. She added 4 cloves pressed garlic and 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning.

I have made this recipe twice. The first time I strictly followed the recipe and found it a bit bland. The second time I gussied it up was when I sautéed the mushrooms using garlic and onion powder, dried thyme, and dry vermouth. Much better.

Classic recipe with no fussy ingredients or technique. Big tip! Use Pepperidge Farm Hearty White bread for the toast or English Muffins.

Classic. What's not to like? I've poured maple syrup on the bottom of the crust before putting in the pie mixture. Very nice. Sliced toasted almonds, Heath Toffee chips. They all taste good, but I like my Pumpkin Pie real.

One of the best original recipes I have ever made. Turned out just as advertised by Chef John. Serve chilled as suggested. It's a texture thing. I would serve a thin piece of this as a salad course or as part of a cheese board with fruit for dessert. This went particularly well with sweet cherries.
