Always turns out well. It's my niece's favorite pie that I make and since I was going to her house for Christmas dinner, I made it and another pie as my contribution to the meal. The only thing I do differently is to whisk in the egg yolks with the milk and brown sugar at the very beginning and add the butter and vanilla at the end. Always turns out well. Helpful (0) Fried Cabbage and Egg Noodles 02/04/2018 Delicious and easy. When I'm feeling especially energetic I'll make homemade noodles for this dish, but it tastes great with store-bought. Sometimes will throw in smoked sausage or cubed ham near end of cooking cycle for a heartier dish, but it isn't necessary as this is great all on it's own. Helpful (0) Simple Macaroni and Cheese 02/03/2018 This recipe is almost exactly the same basic recipe I've used for years. As is, it's a little plain and bland but younger children love it. Nowadays I add spices like garlic powder, salt, pepper, paprika and a couple tbsp brown mustard. I like to add diced ham and peas or diced chicken and broccoli, top with buttered bread crumbs mixed with grated parmesan and bake until top is brown and bubbly. Combine with a salad for a complete meal. Helpful (5) Caramel Pecan Pie 11/25/2017 I wanted to love this recipe. Caramel and pecan pie, two of my favorites combined. I made for Thanksgiving and it was okay, not great but not bad either. Just okay. Followed recipe exactly and didn't have any problems, used a homemade crust. There wasn't anything wrong with the pie, it just didn't "wow" me like I was hoping. Good enough I wasn't embarrassed to serve it, but not good enough to take the place of my regular pecan pie. Really glad I made and tried this recipe but probably won't make again. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Helpful (0) Apple Pie by Grandma Ople 11/23/2017 Made this pie to take to work for a small potluck. Was told it was the best apple pie they ever had. Apple pie has never been a favorite but I chose this because a couple of people there had stated in the past apple was their favorite. After tasting this pie, apple climbed several places towards the top of my list. It was simply the best tasting apple pie I've ever eaten. Followed recipe exactly except for adding 1 tsp of cinnamon to sauce just because I love cinnamon. Definitely will be making again. Helpful (0) Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust 02/16/2017 Easy and delicious pie crust. Instead of shortening I used about half and half butter and lard. Used food processor instead of pastry cutter. Came out perfect and tasty. Helpful (0) recipe collections 8 see all All Saved Recipes 120 Recipes mardi gras 1 Recipe cinnamon rolls 1 Recipe entrees 1 Recipe Breads 5 Recipes Desserts 17 Recipes
