October 2024 Worth the effort I tried this recipe for the first time a year ago and it turned out amazing! Great flavour, not super hard to make and my hubby loves it Helpful (0) Vicki reviewed Patti’s Ukrainian Red Borscht Soup Recipe. October 2024 I would give it a 5 but I didn’t have tomato paste. No other changes. It has great flavor! It makes a BIG pot! A dollop of sour cream changes the flavor completely. Delicious! Like the recipe says, gather all of your ingredients first. This took me three and a half hours to make, and that does NOT include cleanup. That may be due to me having made two pots of it, but peeling and shredding 9 more vegetables shouldn't add two hours, right? I even had some help, the garlic was peeled and others fetched the vegetables. The potatoes took 20 minutes to become tender. I left out the sugar and added some other spices to make it more interesting. I used beef burger instead of pork sausage (which I imagine to be in a casing) Helpful (0) Personal Recipes 6 Patti's Mussels a la Mariniere 343 Ratings Ukrainian Red Borscht Soup 472 Ratings Stanislava Krunić’s Gibanica (Serbian cheese pie) Staša Krunić’s Gibanica (Serbian cheese pie) Zesty Cabbage Soup Squash Medley Sautee Ratings & Reviews 1 Bolognese Stuffed Bell Peppers 02/07/2006 I make a variation of this dish using 1 pound of ground chicken instead of beef, half and half instead of heavy cream, and I add 1/4 c minced onion, and a clove of minced garlic. Instead of marinara, I add a 14 ounce can of diced tomatoes. This recipe is fantastic with red bell peppers. Serve with a green salad.
