Whether it’s a bowl, burrito, or the new fajita quesadilla, we all know exactly what we’re ordering and with which toppings before we ever step inside the restaurant. However, your order can get a little dicey if you enjoy one of Chipotle’s limited-time protein options. If you opt for the exciting, new offerings—like Chipotle’s chicken al pastor or carne asada—instead of its classics—like chicken or steak—you’re always running the risk of Chipotle pulling the menu item on any given day. But, with enough customers begging Chipotle to bring a protein back, you might just get the chance to eat it again. At least you will with Chipotle’s Carne Asada. That’s right, Chipotle is bringing back its fan-loved Carne Asada for the first time in three years. Chipotle released its Carne Asada, which is steak marinated and then seasoned with cumin, coriander, oregano, lime juice, and cilantro, in 2019—and it was an immediate hit. More than 10 million customers ordered the limited-time offering, according to Chipotle, so the brand decided to bring it back again in 2020. Today, Chipotle says its Carne Asada is the menu item that fans request a return of the most. “I need Chipotle to bring back that carne asada,” X (formerly Twitter) user @b_samone1 tweeted. Chipotle Reintroducing Carne Asada Chipotle Obviously, Chipotle has listened to its customers as it’s putting the Carne Asada back on U.S. and Canada menus for a limited time—and, this time, you can order the Carne Asada in a new way. For the first time, you’ll be able to try Chipotle's Carne Asada in the brand’s quesadilla and viral fajita quesadilla—which is how Chipotle’s head chef recommends it. Nevielle Panthaky, Chipotle’s head chef, recommends ordering the protein in the Carne Asada Fajita Quesadilla, complete with Monterey Jack cheese and fajita vegetables, along with three sides. Panthaky’s choice of sides? Cilantro lime white rice, black beans, and sour cream. Though of course, you can order the Carne Asada as your protein in any one of Chipotle’s menu offerings. Chipotle hasn’t said how long the Carne Asada will reside on the menu this time, but just to be safe, we’d order it sooner rather than later. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback!
