Product Reviews and Buying Guides Appliance Reviews I’m Officially an Air Fryer Convert After This Walmart-Exclusive Model Helped Me Cook Dinner in 10 Minutes I can finally prepare restaurant-worthy meals for my family thanks to Drew Barrymore’s popular gadget. Allrecipes' editorial guidelines Published on March 30, 2024 Photo: AllRecipes / Reese Herrington I’ve never tried to disguise myself as someone who is talented in the kitchen. Unfortunately for my family of five, this often means they’re stuck eating the same go-to dishes week after week or left to fend for themselves (kidding, sort of). My aversion to cooking is a mix of limited time, lack of knowledge, and fear of failure—I’ve burned quite a few meals or have given them little to no flavor. That is until I finally had the opportunity to add a highly buzzed about (and long overdue) small appliance to my kitchen. I know I’m behind the times, but when I recently began using Walmart’s Beautiful by Drew Barrymore 6-Quart Air Fryer, I actually enjoy cooking without the stress, and my family enjoys what’s on their plate. In fact, the first meal I prepared using the air fryer was salmon seasoned with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic with a side of asparagus, and it was ready in under 10 minutes. The salmon flaked apart perfectly as we ate it, and it had a slight crispiness to the skin thanks to the TurboCrisp technology. Beautiful by Drew Barrymore 6-Quart Air Fryer Walmart $69 at Walmart My hesitation in originally owning an air fryer was just learning how to use something new, but the process couldn’t have been easier—even for a novice home cook like myself. The air fryer features a touch-activated display with four settings, including air fry, roast, reheat, and dehydrate. You simply tap the power button and select the method you want to use. Once you’ve selected the setting, choose the time and temperature, between 90 degrees F and 400 degrees F, based on the recipe, and hit start (which is also a pause button when needed). Once the air fryer turned on, I immediately noticed how quiet it was when cooking. Throughout the process, it never heated up the room like my oven does, which will be a huge benefit during hot summer days. It has a 5-pound food capacity in the basket but shouldn’t be packed to ensure your food cooks properly. And as a busy mom, I feel safe knowing it automatically shuts off after 60 minutes. I also appreciated that the crisping tray and pan were a breeze to clean up and wiped down quickly with warm water and soap. Since my first use, I’ve prepared eggs, chicken, french fries, and wings in the air fryer, and everything cooked seamlessly and to my desired juiciness and crispness. And in simple terms, it’s also really pretty. The Beautiful air fryer, available in a variety of colors including white, black, light blue, lavender, sage, and taupe, looks so nice on my countertop that I haven’t worried about finding a spot to store it—and I’m very anti-counter clutter. Since I’ve started using it so often, I like that the sleek aesthetic matches my more modern kitchen. At just $69, it’s well worth the minimal investment.
