Finding White Skittles? Here's What They Mean

Skittles are shedding the rainbow for a good cause.

With June approaching, we're about to be inundated with a whole bunch of rainbow-themed foods. And for good reason: June is Pride month, which means brands will not only be raising awareness about issues affecting the LGBTQ community, but donating funds to various advocacy groups as well.

But if you're already known for giving people a chance to "taste the rainbow" even under normal circumstances, how are you supposed to stand out during pride? By sporting a new monochromatic look that contains all of the colors on the visible light spectrum, of course.

That's the story with Skittles' look next month, as Pride finds them sacrificing their own rainbow for the greater good. "Only one rainbow matters during pride," the packaging reads, set against a backdrop that hints at what Skittles might have looked like during the era of black and white movies.

This June will mark the second year in a row of Skittles' rainbow-sacrificing efforts, which goes beyond mere aesthetics and into the territory of fundraising. One dollar from every pack of these blandly colored Skittles sold (up to $100,000) will be donated to GLAAD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, a media advocacy group.

If you want to find a different-looking way to snack in the spirit of pride, or want to turn the simple act of eating Skittles into something of a guessing game, you can find these Pride Skittles at retailers online from Walmart and Target soon, or in-store from a selection of nationwide retailers by the time May gives way to June.
