With his study "The Fifth Discipline" published on 1970 Senge explained the disciplines of learning organizations and classified these disciplines under five topics as; systematic thinking, personal mastery, mental models, shared vision, and team learning. These contributions Senge made to the field of administration have attracted much more attention from neuroscientists, neuropsychologists and organizational psychologists rather than the field researchers and after 1970s there has not been much discussion, especially in the field of management-organization. However, archetypes defined by system thinking derived from the theory of system dynamics have the feature of being a strategy card in organizational decisions. These features Senge mentioned also tries to put an end to the view that the world is made up of discrete parts and to show that the world is more than a linear simplicity with a head and a tail. These tools try to picture the world as circular patterns that have no connection with each other. In addition to this Senge discovered that some patterns repeat themselves and he named them as system archetypes. This study aims to bring the archetypes that Senge had defined to the management field and as a result to enrich the Turkish literature.
The Learning Organization, 2020
Purpose This paper aims to go through all Peter Senge’s books since his influential book The Fifth Discipline: The Art and Practice of the Learning Organization in 1990 and see what kind of ideas he has developed and the impact his books have created. Design/methodology/approach The author uses book review method to identify prominent ideas in those books that not only have significantly challenged but also contributed to transforming the world of business and management in both academia and practice. Findings Among many great ideas that Senge has developed, spirituality, mental models, systems thinking, and a sustainability mentality are prominent ones, which have set up trends for both researchers and practitioners in business and management. Originality/value Those ideas are interwoven, intertwined and have powerfully shaped new ways to see the world and act upon.

"Fifth Discipline" is a book authored by Peter Senge articulating five learning disciplines that are important in an organization. These disciplines include personal mastery, mental models, team learning, shared vision and systems thinking. Synergy of the learning disciplines exemplifies a learning organization that builds and continually learns. As a vital component in organizational process, learning disciplines highlight systems thinking (fifth discipline) in ascertaining holistic functioning of the different elements within an organization. For them to be achieved, leaders need to be equipped with various learning tasks, perspectives and strong dedication to uphold the organizational culture without compromising individual predicaments of its members.

The paper laments the current confusion in business science with regard to its epistemology. Any scientific discipline needs a firm structural basis, otherwise research is unfocused and flawed. In business science not even the vocabulary is clear: terms like Management and Business Administration mean many things to different people. The paper suggests to replace Burrell and Morgan's matrix of sociological paradigms with a new typology which is really able to guide research and practice alike. Management scholars have argued too long without any sense of direction and managers have as a result become reserved and somewhat cynical toward Management theory.
Mental models which is figured by Senge in his book " The Fifth Discipline " published in 1990 was mentioned as a proper way of thinking for the learning organizations in every step of the management. In this study the generation of mental model configuration process is deeply defined and dimensions of the model is explained. The relation between Argyris' left column, facing with reality and learning organization has been stated in this study and the variables of these theories and their connections within organizations increased the quality of forming mental models as a result.

That organizations learn is an idea whose time has come. It has taken nearly half a century to build its foundation on groundbreaking work in physics and biology, cybernetics and psychology, the organizational sciences and the practice of management. Philosopher of science Gunther contends that new paradigms are often premature -ahead of their time. At the same time, they are seldom unique: in different fields, confronting different phenomena, thinkers and doers seem to gravitate independently to similar sets of ideas. As they transform them variously into frameworks, formulas, parables or practices, new understandings are revealed and we change the way we do things.
