The 5G SA network can operate independently without relying on 4G infrastructure, unlocking the full potential of 5G technology and providing greater flexibility and scalability for future development. The 5G SA infrastructure also supports network slicing technology, enabling efficient resource allocation, support for local and international roaming, and more effective integration of artificial intelligence and edge computing to support real-time applications such as smart cities, and IoT devices. Additionally, the 5G SA architecture offers enhanced security features to protect user information.
We are the first mobile operator to provide seamless 5G coverage along all MTR lines*, so passengers can enjoy our truly genuine 5G service on concourses and platforms at all stations, as well as through tunnels and onboard trains, which includes the Tuen Ma line and the new East Rail Line Cross-Harbour Extension@ (from Hung Hom Station to Admiralty Station via the new Exhibition Centre Station).
In addition, we are the first mobile operator to provide 5G coverage along all MTR lines with dedicated 5G spectrum deployed to cover the East Rail Line Cross-Harbour Extension.
