Zayd ibn ‘Alī (Arabic:زيد بن علي, also spelled Zaid, Zayyed; 695–740) was the grandson of Husayn ibn Alī, and great-grandson of Ali ibn Abi Talib. Zayd was born in Medina in 695. He is the son of Alī ibn Husayn "Zayn al-Abidīn".Ibn Qutaybah in his book “al-Ma‘ārif” republished in 1934 from Egypt writes (at page-73) that one of wives of 4th Shia Imam belonged to Sindh and she was mother of Zayd ibn Ali. Similar reference has also been inferred in book “Zayd Shaheed” by Abd al-Razzaq al-Hasani, published from Najaf
Hadith Prophesying his Birth
The prophet once looked at Zayd ibn Harithah, cried, and said "The martyr in the sake of Allah, The crucified of my people, The oppressed from my progeny, his name is thus." Then the prophet pointed at Zayd ibn Harithah and said "Come closer to me, your name became more dear to me because it is the same as my dear child (Zaid.)"
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir narrated: "The Holy Prophet put his sacred hand on Husayn bin Ali's back and said: 'O Husayn, it will not be long until a man will be born among your descendants. He will be called Zaid; he will be killed as a martyr. On the day of resurrection, he and his companions will enter heaven, setting their feet on the necks of the people.'"
Ali(Arabic:علي, ʿAlī) is a male Arabic name derived from the Arabic root ʕ-l-w, which literally means "high" or "elevated". It is a common name in Arab countries and the rest of the Muslim world. Islamic traditional use of the name goes back to the Islamic leader Ali ibn Abi Talib but the name is identical in form and meaning to the Hebrew: עֵלִי , Eli, which goes back to the High PriestEli in the biblical Books of Samuel.
The name Ali also arises in other traditions. Among English-speakers as short for male and female names starting with "Al-", or the Old Norse man's name Áli. It can also be an English nickname, as a shortened form of Alexandra, Alison, Alice, Alistair, or Alexander.
Ali ('Ali ibn Abi Talib), cousin and son-in-law of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, the first infallibleimam (leader) of the Muslim ummah (community) in Twelver Shi'a thought
Cho Yong-Jin (Korean:조용진), famously known as Ali (stylized as ALi), is a South Koreansinger-songwriter famous for her work on Korean pop music in the early twenty-first century. Her stage name is a motif from Muhammad Ali. This is so that it can be engraved easily by the masses. Following her debut in 2009, she is primarily known for her strong vocals and her time as a contestant on the KBS program Immortal Songs 2.
Career
Following her debut in 2009, she had already gained fame for her appearances on music shows, most notably Immortal Songs 2 on KBS2. She also worked as a professor in applied musical arts at the Seoul Technical Arts College.
ALi released her first album SOULri in December 2011 which was strangely two years after her official debut. One released track, "Na Young", garnered immediate controversy as its lyrics referenced a case of sexual assault that had been a very public case in South Korea, with many detractors criticizing the song to be insensitive to its subject. ALi would later address this controversy by revealing that she herself was a survivor of sexual assault.

Martyrdom of Zayd ibn Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn Ali ibn Abi Ṭalib (a) during the uprising against Umayyads (زید بن علي بن الحسین بن علي بن ابيطالب) 2th of safar
He is the son of Imam al-Sajjad (a), and was contemporary with Imam al-Baqir (a) and Imam al-Sadiq (a)
Zayd was born in Medina and was martyred in Kufa.
Many of Shi'a scholars believe this rebellion was staged by the permission of Imam al-Sadiq (a) including: al-Shahid al-Awwal in al-Qawa'id, al-Mamaqani in Tanqih al-maqal, al-Khoei in Mu'jam rijal al-hadith, and Sayyid 'Ali Khan Shirazi in Riyad al-Salikin.
Imam al-Rida (a) said, my father, Musa b. Ja'far (a), heard his father, Ja'far b. Muhammad (a), saying, "Zayd consulted me about his rebellion, I said O, dear uncle, if you like to be the person crucified in the Kunasa Bazar of Kufa, this (rebellion) is the way." When Zayd went out Imam al-Sadiq (a) said, "Woe to someone who hears his call and does not support him"( Al-Saduq, 'Uyun akhbar al-Rida (a), vol. 1 p. 2)
Zayd b. 'Ali made an uprising against Umayyad due to a number of reasons:
Tyrannies of Umayyads,
Invitations of people of Kufa,
Disagreement between Zayd b. 'Ali and 'Abd Allah b. al-Hasan on waqfs of Imam 'Ali (a) in Medina which led to judgment of Khalid b. 'Abd al-Malik and its consequences,
Travel of Zayd to Syria and his encounter with Hisham b. 'Abd al-Malik
Financial charges against Zayd b. 'Ali.
Therefore, Zayd who did not believe in taqiyya along with fifteen thousand people of Kufa who took an oath of allegiance to him, to rise against Umayyad.
Zayd b. 'Ali made the uprising on the first Wednesday of Safar; the year of his uprising and martyrdom is mentioned differently in sources such as, 122/740, 121/739, and 120/738.They intended to make an uprising later, however after two soldiers of Zayd were killed and they feared a surprise attack by Umayyad, then they made the uprising sooner.
The motto of Zayd b. 'Ali's army was: "Ya Mansur! Amit" (O Victorious! Bring death)
After they were informed about the rebellion, Umayyad army surrendered the supporters of Zayd b. 'Ali in mosque,..
After they were informed about the rebellion, Umayyad army surrendered the supporters of Zayd b. 'Ali in mosque, so from the fifty thousand men pledged allegiance to him only 280 or 300 men were around him. After two days of war, he was martyred by an arrow that pierced his forehead.
Zayd was buried in secret. However, Umayyads found the burial place, exhumed Zayds' body and sent his head to Hisham b. 'Abd al-Malik and crucified his body.
Then Al-Ma’mun said, “O Abul Hassan! Have there not been traditions blaming those who unrightfully claim to be the Divine Leader?” Al-Ridha’ (a.s.) said, “Zayd did not make any such unrightful claims. He was much more pious than that. He used to invite the people to a pleasant member of the Household of Muhammad (a.s.). Those traditions are about the people who claim that God has appointed them to be a Divine Leader, invite the people to a religion other than God’s religion and mislead the people so as to deviate them from the way of God. I swear by God that Zayd was one who was addressed by the following verse, ‘And strive in His cause as ye ought to strive, (with sincerity and under discipline). He has chosen you…’1
The author of this - Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Al-Husayn - may God be pleased with him - said, “Zayd ibn Ali has many nobilities narrated by the Imams other than Al-Ridha’ (a.s.). I will present them in what follows so that those who study this book can become familiar with the beliefs of the Imams about Zayd.”
25-1A Ahmad ibn Harun al-Fami narrated in the Kufa Mosque in the year 354 A.H. (964 A.D.) that Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Ja’far al-Himyari quoted on the authority of his father, on the authority of Muhammad ibn Al-Husayn ibn Abil Khattab, on the authority of Al-Husayn ibn Ulwan, on the authority of Umar ibn Thabit, on the authority of Dawood ibn Abdul Jabbar, on the authority of Jabir ibn Yazid al-Jo’fi, on the authority of Abi Ja’far Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir (a.s.), on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ali (a.s.) that God’s Prophet (S) told Al-Husayn (a.s.), “O Husayn! There will be a man from your progeny called Zayd. He and his companions will cross the rows of the people on the Resurrection Day with brilliant faces. They will enter Paradise without any reckoning.”
