An informative presentation for young researchers who want to know about X-Ray Diffraction method. The basic questions to be answered are -
How X-rays are produced?
Why X-rays are used for crystallography?
How diffracted X-rays deliver crystal information?
What is an X-ray diffractometer?
What determines the position of an XRD peak?
Why the intensity of different peaks is different?
What is the reason for the width (or FWHM) of a peak?
What are crystallites?

XRD Sample Preparation - Back Loaded Sample Holder - X-ray Diffraction
In this video, I will show you how to prepare a back-loaded sample using tools from Malvern Panalytical. This method is typically preferred as it helps reduce preferred orientation if the sample particles are not spherical, it produces a relatively smooth surface (smooth for a powder), and the sample height is better controlled. This sample holder is great if you want to perform Rietveld refinements on your data.

Introduction to X-ray Diffraction
This video will briefly introduce the relationship between atomic planes and X-ray diffraction. It will then go into the types of X-ray diffraction experiments that can be made in the JIAM Diffraction Facility (located at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville), show the data that result from these experiments, and then reveal what can be learned from the data.

Introduction to X-ray Diffraction (XRD)
The Materials Characterization Lab: Technique XRD
The term X-ray Scattering encompasses many techniques used to characterize materials. X-ray diffraction (XRD) has traditionally been applied to well-ordered crystalline materials to determine crystal structures and identify phase composition. XRD techniques measure stress, preferred orientation, and crystallinity. The field also encompasses the characterization of non- or semi-crystalline materials via small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS).
