The 1958 World Sportscar Championship season was the sixth season of the FIA World Sportscar Championship. It was a series for sportscars that ran in many worldwide endurance events. It ran from 26 January 1958 to 13 September 1958, and comprised six races.
Season
After major accidents at the 1955 Les 24 Heures du Mans and 1957 Mille Miglia, the sport’s governing body, F.I.A. and its Commission Sportive Internationale (CSI) dictated several technical changes to the 1958 Sports Car rule book, under teams completing now see their cars’ engines limited to three litres.
This allowed Scuderia Ferrari to dominate the season, as Maserati withdrew from motor racing, leaving Aston Martin and Porsche as the main opposition, but as the previous seasons, the majority of the fields were made up of amateur or gentlemen drivers, often up against professional racing drivers with experience in Formula One. Sometimes, even the Drivers World Champion joined in.
The 1959 World Sportscar Championship season was the seventh season of the FIA World Sportscar Championship. It was a series for sportscars that ran in many worldwide endurance events. It ran from 21 March 1959 to 5 September 1959, and consisted of 5 races.
Schedule
Season results
Points were awarded to the top 6 finishers, in the order of 8-6-4-3-2-1. Manufacturers were only awarded points for their highest finishing car. Other finishers from the same manufacturer were merely skipped in the points count.
Races
Manufacturers Championship
Only the best 3 results out of the 5 race season counted towards the championship. Points earned but not counted towards the championship total are listed within brackets.
† - Ferrari declared second due to having the same number of wins, one, and second places, one, as Porsche but having two 3rd place finishes to Porsche's one.
The 1957 World Sportscar Championship season was the fifth season of the FIA World Sportscar Championship. It was a series for sportscars that ran in many worldwide endurance events. It ran from 20 January 1956 to 3 November 1957, and comprised seven races.
Following the shortest season in World Sportscar Championship history, the 1957 season saw the return of the 24 Hours of Le Mans following track modifications as a direct result of the 1955 Le Mans disaster. In addition, there was a new race on the calendar, a trip to northern coast of South America for the Venezuelan Grand Prix.

While not as fast as open-wheelFormula One cars, LMPs are the fastest closed-wheel racing cars used in circuit racing. Le Mans Prototypes are considered a class above production-based grand tourer cars, which compete alongside them in sports car racing.
Le Mans Prototypes have used various names depending on the series in which they compete. The FIA's equivalent cars were referred to as Sports Racers (SR) or Sports Racing Prototypes (SRP). The American IMSA GT Championship termed their cars World Sports Cars' (WSC), while the short-lived United States Road Racing Championship used the classic Can-Am (CA) name for their prototypes. Since 2004, most series have switched to referring to these cars as Le Mans Prototypes. The American Le Mans Series, the successor to the IMSA GT Championship and the predecessor of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, officially referred to the cars simply as Prototypes (P1, P2, or PC). An LMP is commonly referred to as a Le Mans car in the media.

The 1985 ADAC 1000km was the fifth round of the 1985 World Endurance Championship, took place at the Hockenheimring, West Germany on 14th July and was won by Derek Bell and Hans-Joachim Stuck in the Rothmans Porsche 962. The frenetic racing on the track was almost surpassed by the chaos in the over crowded pitlane. A garage fire is quickly contained by the mechanics despite a driver change taking place, with Derek Bell calmly sitting in the cockpit as the flames all around him are put out. A fascinating insight into the racing and dangers, on and off track, at the height of the Group C era.

rFactor: 1970 World Sportscar Championship - Circuit de la Sarthe 1970 - Race
My race at the Circuit de la Sarthe 1970 with the CGST mod. I'm driving the Sports 5000 Porsche 917K of Pedro Rodriguez for the John Wyer Automotive Engineering team. AI still set to 107% and Agression 25%, I turned off damage not for my benefit but for the AI because as you'll see they have problems getting round the bend on the mulsanne and half the field gets wiped out in the first few laps if damage is turned on. Race went well enough, almost too easily. Other times when I've raced using this mod the Porsche 917L's always proved hard to catch and overtake and normally over half race completed before I managed to get past with help of traffic.

It's okay, I know you've got to go Because he's walked in the room Oh, I heard the sports car shrieking And you, don't want him to know Who's on the 'phone with you No, I can tell by the way you're speaking When you say "I think it's got to end" Is it just another whim? Oh, don't forget how well I know you But I am not going to pretend That I get along with him Because, well, I don't have to And I am not going to call There's no reason at all And I am not going to call There's no reason at all And if you get in his car Go somewhere very far If you get in his car
