Charles Thomas "Stompin' Tom" Connors, OC (February 9, 1936– March 6, 2013) was a Canadiancountry and folksinger-songwriter. Focusing his career exclusively on his native Canada, Connors is credited with writing more than 300 songs and has released four dozen albums, with total sales of nearly 4 million copies. Connors died at 77 in his home in Ballinafad, Ontario, of renal failure.
Isabel's family were Protestant, and his maternal grandfather, John Connors, was a sea captain from Boston, Massachusetts who had died before Stompin' Tom was born. Stompin' Tom's father was a Catholic of Irish and French ancestry, and "may have been Métis or ... Micmac." Isabel Connors and Thomas Joseph Sullivan didn't wed until 30 years later, probably because Sullivan's family were devout Catholics and didn't want him marrying a Protestant; they later divorced. Sullivan's mother gave him $10, and was told to leave home. Connors was also cousin of New Brunswick fiddling sensation, Ned Landry.
"Wildwood Flower" (or "The Wildwood Flower") is an American song, best known through performances and recordings by the Carter Family. It is a folk song, cataloged as Roud Folk Song Index No. 757.
History
"Wildwood Flower" is a variant of the song "I'll Twine 'Mid the Ringlets", published in 1860 by composer Joseph Philbrick Webster, who wrote the music, with lyrics attributed to Maud Irving. Other versions of the song have evolved, including "The Pale Amaranthus" (collected in Kentucky and North Carolina, reported in 1911), "Raven Black Hair" and "The Pale Wildwood Flower" (collected 1915–1919), and "The Frail Wildwood Flower".
The original Carter Family first recorded "Wildwood Flower" in 1928 on the Victor label. Maybelle Carter leads a rendition of the song on the 1972 album Will the Circle be Unbroken, and frequently performed the song in concert with Johnny Cash and on his The Johnny Cash Show. The Carter version of the song is considered the premier example of "the Carter Scratch", a form of acoustic guitar playing in which the musician (in the case of the Carters, most notably Maybelle herself) plays both the melody and rhythm lines simultaneously.
Wildwood Flower is the last solo album from June Carter Cash. It was released in 2003 on the Dualtone record label, four months after her death and only a few days before the death of Johnny Cash, who provides backing vocals, making this the final release of his lifetime. It was produced by their son, John Carter Cash. The album's opening track, "Keep on the Sunny Side" was a Carter Family anthem that June Carter Cash had previously recorded twice with Johnny Cash: for the 1964 Carter Family album of the same title, and for the 1974 Johnny Cash album The Junkie and the Juicehead Minus Me. "The Road to Kaintuck", written by June, had previously been recorded by her husband on several occasions for Columbia Records. The medley of "Church in the Wildwood"/"Lonesome Valley" had been a regular part of Johnny Cash concerts in the 1970s.
Professor Thomas Anthony Connors (18 December 1934 – 4 February 2002) was a British cancer research scientist.
Connors was for 40 years involved in the development of anti-cancer drugs including cis-platinum and its derivative, carbo-platin, two effective anti-cancer agents. Connors' initial research was under the auspices of mentor and friend Professor Walter Ross at the Chester Beatty Institute where he gained his Doctorate in 1960. In 1976 Connors' career expanded into the field of toxicology and he was appointed Director of the Medical Research Council's toxicology unit. Connors also sat on committees including the Cancer Research Campaign. He formed the Phase I/II Drug Development Committee during this period. Connors also advised overseas institutes and their governments. and was a special advisor to President Gerald Ford. On retirement in 1994 Connors was appointed Honorary Professor at the School of Pharmacy, University of London.
Connors was awarded many honours including honorary degrees from several universities, Including Aston (1997) and Dublin Trinity in 2001. He has a research unit named after him at Bradford University.

WILDWOOD FLOWER Writer A.P. Carter Oh, I'll twine with my mingles and waving black hair With the roses so red and the lilies so fair And the myrtles so bright with emerald dew The pale and the leader and eyes look like blue. Oh, I'll dance, I will sing and my laugh shall be gay I will charm ev'ry heart, in his crown I will sway When I woke from my dreaming, idols were clay All portions of love then had all flown away. Oh, he taught me to love him and promised to love And to cherish me over all others above How my heart now is wond'ring misery can tell He's left me no warning, no words of farewell. Oh, he taught me to love him and called me his flow'r That was blooming to cheer him through life's dreary hour Oh, I'm longing to see him through life's dark hour He's gone and neglected this pale wildwood flower.
