Wide Open Spaces is the fourth studio album and the major label debut of Americancountry music band, the Dixie Chicks. It was their first record with new lead vocalistNatalie Maines, and became their breakthrough commercial success. It received diamond status by the RIAA on February 20, 2003 in the United States, having shipped 14 million units worldwide, while spending more than six years in the AustralianARIA music charts Country Top 20. The album has sold 8,841,000 copies in the United States as of October 2013.
Turning Point is an ABC News program that aired from 1994 to 1999.
Turning Point was an hour-long documentary program focused on a single topic, making it similar to CBS' 48 Hours, which it ran directly opposite for some of its run. The program tended toward sensational topics, such as former members of Charles Manson's "Family" and much coverage of the O. J. Simpson murder case, which was current for much of the program's run. ABC News figures appearing regularly on the program included Diane Sawyer, Forrest Sawyer, Meredith Vieira, Peter Jennings and Barbara Walters.
This Turning Point is not to be confused with an ABC dramatic anthology series of the same title which ran during the 1952-53 television season.

"This feels like coming home: an orchestral version of one of the tracks from the 'Ithaca' EP. An EP that was written with a lot of orchestral instruments, and with a sound-design/mixdown esthetic that almost has more in common with the dynamic sound of the orchestra than some of my and Amon’s music in other genres that are more focused on drums and impact.

Reinout Douma and I have been discussing how to mix orchestra and electronics for years now, kind of unsatisfied with most attempts we’ve heard and seen: in most cases the orchestra and electronics were disconnected, or one of the elements would completely lose out versus the other. It was a matter of time before we tried to record something together with the Noordpool Orchestra, of which he’s the founder, artistic director and conductor.
We chose 'Turning Point' because the original gave us some wide open doors to bring the orchestra in, as well as some nice space to explore textures the orchestra could add to the original. I think the outcome speaks for itself!" - Thys

Black cloud on the sun, I turned my collar up And walked from your door up to the county road Oh yeah, what luck, the timings been rough on us Right then, oh boy, we hit the turning point Three or four years or more my life was on the floor Blind faith, hangin' in hungry and tired of it Oh yeah, better luck, it takin' over us But right now, oh boy, we've hit the turning point She's had to follow me up and down these empty streets Whiskey on her breath tryin' to give the world a test Oh yeah, better luck, it takin' over us Right now, oh boy, we've hit the turning point Yeah right now, oh boy, we've hit the turning point Yeah right now, oh boy, we've hit the turning point
