Lucky Stiff is a musicalfarce. It was the first collaboration for the team of Lynn Ahrens (book and lyrics) and Stephen Flaherty (music). The show is based on the 1983 novel The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo by Michael Butterworth. It was created and performed at Playwrights Horizonsoff-Broadway in 1988, and won the Richard Rodgers Award for that year. The musical was seen in London's West End in 1997 but has not had a Broadway production. A film version had a limited release in theatres in 2015 but received mostly negative reviews.
The musical was produced at the Olney Theatre, Olney, Maryland, in May 1989, starring Evan Pappas as Harry. It won the 1990 Helen Hayes Award for Best Musical, and Pappas won as Best Actor in a Musical.
Ron Douglas takes a holiday in the mountains to recover from his bride running away on their wedding day. There he meets Cynthia Mitchell, who invites him home for Christmas dinner with her family, descendants of the Donner Party.
The film was released in the United States in November 1988, followed by Australia on December 7, 1989, France on February 21, 1990, and Portugal on March 15, 1991.
The following is an episode list for the television seriesFreddy's Nightmares, a spin-off of the successful movie series A Nightmare on Elm Street. In the United States, the first episode of the series originally aired on October 8, 1988. The series ran for two seasons, ending on March 12, 1990, after 44 episodes.
The series has had a limited release on VHS in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil, Italy, and the Netherlands. In the United States, the series was released on September 11, 1991, in five volumes, with one episode per volume. The UK released eight volumes, with two episodes per volume. The other countries released the same episodes as that of the UK release. The UK released a two volume DVD set on June 9, 2003.
Seasons
With the exception of the pilot, all of the episodes carried two separate storylines. The first half hour would be devoted to one story, while the last half hour would be devoted to a second storyline.
