Pacific Electric
Pacific Electric, also known as the Red Car system, was a privately owned mass transit system in Southern California consisting of electrically powered streetcars, interurban cars, and buses and was the largest electric railway system in the world in the 1920s. Organized around the city centers of Los Angeles and San Bernardino, it connected cities in Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Bernardino County and Riverside County.
The system shared dual gauge track with the 3 ft 6 in (1,067 mm) narrow gauge Los Angeles Railway, "Yellow Car," or "LARy" system on Main Street in downtown Los Angeles (directly in front of the 6th and Main terminal), on 4th Street, and along Hawthorne Boulevard south of downtown Los Angeles toward the cities of Hawthorne, Gardena, and Torrance.

Pacific (album)
Pacific (stylized as pacific) is the second studio album by Japanese musical group NEWS, released on November 7, 2007. The album reached the number one position on the Oricon Daily Album Chart and Oricon Weekly Album Chart. Four singles have been released from this album. The limited edition includes a 74-page photobook, while the regular edition comes with an 18-page booklet and 2 bonus tracks. It was released simultaneously with the single "Weeeek."

Pacific Marine Ecozone (CEC)
The Pacific Marine Ecozone is a Canadian and American marine ecozone extending to the international waters of the Pacific Ocean from the coasts of Alaska, British Columbia, Washington and Oregon. The islands within the Canadian portion are part of the adjacent Pacific Maritime ecozone.
Famous for its tourism and an important shipping channel for Canada, the zone is subject to intense human activity which has damaged ecosystems. Primary effects include overfishing, pollution and even direct habitat destruction. The large and increasing population in nearby coastal areas, including the major centres of Vancouver and Seattle, exerts significant strain on the natural habitats within this ecozone.
Geography
The large rivers flowing from the Rocky Mountains are a source of nutrients for this ecologically diverse region. They enter the shallow waters over the continental shelf, which underlays the entire ecozone and represents the edge of the North American tectonic plate. This plate is constantly folding under the Pacific Plate, causing volcanic activity at their juncture and earthquakes along the coast.

Electric (Robyn song)
"Electric" is a song by Swedish recording artist Robyn from her second studio album My Truth (1999). It was released as the album's lead single on 29 April 1999 by BMG Sweden. Robyn wrote the track in collaboration with its producers Ulf Lindström and Johan Ekhé. The single artwork features the singer wearing a feather headpiece designed by Sebastian Wahl. Musically, "Electric" is an electronic funk song, and the lyrics address unexpected life events that make one feel alive.
"Electric" was hailed by music critics as a highlight on My Truth. It achieved commercial success in Sweden, with a peak position of number six on the Sverigetopplistan chart and a gold certification by the Swedish Recording Industry Association (GLF). Though it was initially planned to be serviced internationally, "Electric" and its parent album were never released outside of Sweden due to a dispute between Robyn and her overseas label RCA Records.
Background
"Electric" was written by Robyn, Ulf Lindström and Johan Ekhé. Lindström and Ekhé recorded Robyn's vocals and produced the track at Lifeline Studios in Stockholm, Sweden. Lindström and Patrik Berger played the guitar, while all other instruments as well as mixing were handled by Lindström and Ekhé. Hernan "Boogie" Donoso served as an assistant engineer and Björn Engelmann mastered the song at Cutting Room Studios in Stockholm. "Electric" is an electronic funk song with elements of R&B and reggae music. In a chat room provided by Swedish tabloid newspaper Aftonbladet, Robyn elaborated on the lyrical matter of the song when asked by a fan; she stated that it is about unexpected events in life, both good and bad, that are "fantastic" and make one feel alive.

Silent, Full Color video in three parts. Shots were taken near the tracks, from a signal box and at a yard. Considering the footage being made on locations that are normally not open to the public, some -what appears to be- show-rides, and even the cars being piled up at the breaker yard. Both the locations and the details seen in this movie, lead me to believe that the film maker must have had some knowledge and useful PE contacts. We also see the former city-buses and yellow street trams, switching points and signals, the famous Wig-wag system, street scenes, stations, surrounding areas and lots of trains. This is a three part video. We did not want to change the timeline as used on the original reel, nor did we hold back any material, since that may derail the thoughts of some exper...

This short, silent film shows "The Big Red Cars" of the Pacific Electric railroad in Los Angeles. It was shot by Leo Caloia, an amateur cameraman who filmed many subjects in Southern California in the mid to late 1940s. The start of the film shows interurban trolley car 1535 on Long Beach Blvd. This "blimp" car was typically mated with 1537. Car 1519 is seen at 2:08 and 1529 at 3:21. The Los Angeles-to-Long Beach passenger rail line was the longest-serving of all the Pacific Electric routes, running from July 4, 1903, until April 9, 1961. Ironically, it was both the first and last interurban passenger line of the P.E. system. This short, silent film shows "The Big Red Cars" of the Pacific Electric railroad in Los Angeles. It was shot by Leo Caloia, an amateur cameraman who filmed many subjects in Southern California in the mid to late 1940s. The start of the film shows interurban trolley car 1535 on Long Beach Blvd. This "blimp" car was typically mated with 1537. Car 1519 is seen at 2:08 and 1529 at 3:21. The Los Angeles-to-Long Beach passenger rail line was the longest-serving of all the Pacific Electric routes, running from July 4, 1903, until April 9, 1961. Ironically, it was both the first and last interurban passenger line of the P.E. system.
The Pacific Electric Railway Company, nicknamed the Red Cars, was a privately owned mass transit system in Southern California consisting of electrically powered streetcars, interurban cars, and buses and was the largest electric railway system in the world in the 1920s. Organized around the city centers of Los Angeles and San Bernardino, it connected cities in Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Bernardino County and Riverside County.

Of the profusion of field recording / natural soundscape music albums and multimedia that came after Irv Teibel's influential Environments series (i.e. Naturequest, Northsound, Reflections, Lifescapes, etc.) Dan Gibson's Solitudes series is perhaps the best known. The late Canadian producer was certainly the most successful and prolific, spanning from the late 70s through early 00s, producing a variety of albums using varying approaches. Nonethless the central theme was these albums incorporated new age oriented but nonetheless varied instrumental music with field recordings and natural soundscapes.
This album from his "Exploring Nature With Music" series is a good example. Perpetual and varied environmental sounds although the music being a bit more subtle and in the "easy listening" category than some of the more experimental and even avant-garde mixes of his peers.

This DVD outlines the history of both of these famous electric rail lines. They were both started by Henry. E. Huntington at the beginning of the 20th Century. For a time they were intertwined and created with a similar purpose.
This program has a wealth of color movie film from 1940, to the complete end in 1963. The accurate sound recordings, accompanying these movie scenes, bring back the auditory experience of living in those bygone years.
Maps and graphics were specially created to enhance the relevance of the beautiful and nostalgic color movie scenes. These are presented with a well-researched and meaningful historic narrative.
Learn about the high-stakes competition played out by Henry Huntington and the railroad giant, E. H. Harriman, that went on from 1900 to 1911. This struggle was a big factor in how Southern California was developed. And, these forces have long shadows that still effect things today. Learn some of the less-known reasons that both lines were allowed to 'go fallow'.
See hundreds of nostalgic views of streetcars, interurban trains, city and suburban life and even those pesky automobiles over the decades. It's like stepping back to a more certain time when things seemed more clear-headed.

Shots were taken near the tracks, from a signal box and at a yard.
Considering the footage being made on locations that are normally not open to the public, some -what appears to be- show-rides, and even the cars being piled up at the breaker yard. Both the locations and the details seen in this movie, lead me to believe that the film maker must have had some knowledge and useful PE contacts.
We also see the former city-buses and yellow street trams, switching points and signals, the famous Wig-wag system, street scenes, stations, surrounding areas and lots of trains.
This is a three part video. We did not want to change the timeline as used on the original reel, nor did we hold back any material, since that may derail the thoughts of some expert viewers who might be able and willing to share their valuable knowledge. However, we did edit the film where and when needed, some very rough overlays (welds) were cut out. It did not lead to any loss of good material though. Please chime in and share your knowledge with us to better the information we are providing with this video.
The first scenes are on the Northern District at Macy St yard, and there's shots at Watts car house with 00199 (1001) and the Hollywood cars on the WATTS line. The last portion with the MTA emblems on the cars may have been taken in the last year of the Long Beach Line.

This short, silent film shows "The Big Red Cars" of the Pacific Electric railroad in Los Angeles. It was shot by Leo Caloia, an amateur cameraman who filmed many subjects in Southern California in the mid to late 1940s. The start of the film shows interurban trolley car 1535 on Long Beach Blvd. This "blimp" car was typically mated with 1537. Car 1519 is seen at 2:08 and 1529 at 3:21. The Los Angeles-to-Long Beach passenger rail line was the longest-serving of all the Pacific Electric routes, running from July 4, 1903, until April 9, 1961. Ironically, it was both the first and last interurban passenger line of the P.E. system.
The Pacific Electric Railway Company, nicknamed the Red Cars, was a privately owned mass transit system in Southern California consisting of electrically powered streetcars, interurban cars, and buses and was the largest electric railway system in the world in the 1920s. Organized around the city centers of Los Angeles and San Bernardino, it connected cities in Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Bernardino County and Riverside County.
The system shared dual gauge track with the 3 ft 6 in (1,067 mm) narrow gauge Los Angeles Railway, "Yellow Car," or "LARy" system on Main Street in downtown Los Angeles (directly in front of the 6th and Main terminal), on 4th Street, and along Hawthorne Boulevard south of downtown Los Angeles toward the cities of Hawthorne, Gardena, and Torrance.

Of the profusion of field recording / natural soundscape music albums and multimedia that came after Irv Teibel's influential Environments series (i.e. Naturequest, Northsound, Reflections, Lifescapes, etc.) Dan Gibson's Solitudes series is perhaps the best known. The late Canadian producer was certainly the most successful and prolific, spanning from the late 70s through early 00s, producing a variety of albums using varying approaches. Nonethless the central theme was these albums incorporated new age oriented but nonetheless varied instrumental music with field recordings and natural soundscapes.
This album from his "Exploring Nature With Music" series is a good example. Perpetual and varied environmental sounds although the music being a bit more subtle and in the "easy listening" category than some of the more experimental and even avant-garde mixes of his peers.

In early 2020, the U.S. and Philippine partnership under the Asia EDGE (Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy) Initiative released publication of the Philippine Downstream Natural Gas Industry Investors’ Guide – a product of the Gas Policy Development Project (GPDP). Under Asia EDGE, the U.S. Department of State funded the GPDP, which supported the Philippine government in developing gas and LNG sector legal and regulatory frameworks and best practices. GPDP’s LNG Investors’ Guide is targeted to ensure a rules-based process for accessing the Philippines’ LNG market by clarifying for investors the requirements for LNG project application, major permits to be secured, and contact details of relevant government offices. The Investors’ Guide provides information for potential energy players that will contribute to the Philippines’ objective of achieving energy security, while outlining pertinent information for the private sector in setting up an LNG facility in the Philippines, fostering a transparent and systematic application and permitting process that coincide with the Ease of Doing Business.
The Guide is just one step towards the Philippines’ ongoing efforts to facilitate an environment conducive to attracting more investments in the downstream LNG industry. The Philippine government’s decision to develop its LNG sector to complement energy sources is a significant and pioneering accomplishment. In doing so, the Philippines is creating a level playing field for all competitors and helping to attract qualified investors that deliver high standards and quality infrastructure.
Recognizing the importance of the Philippines as an emerging market in LNG, the U.S.-Asia Gas Partnership organized this webinar to showcase the current status of the Philippine downstream natural gas industry and provide a formal launch of the Philippine LNG Investors’ Guide, to be presented by the DOE and GPDP respectively.
This webinar is provided by the USAID U.S.-Asia Gas Partnership (AGP) through collaboration with implementing partner the U.S. Energy Association, as well as the Republic of the Philippines Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Commerce Commercial Law Development Program, and the University of the Philippines.
