Bramhall joined The Chessmen with Jimmie Vaughan while in high school. The group opened for Jimi Hendrix when he played Dallas. In 1969, he moved to Austin and formed Texas Storm with Jimmie Vaughan. In the 1970s, Bramhall formed The Nightcrawlers with Marc Benno, which also included Jimmie Vaughan's younger brother Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitar. While in The Nightcrawlers, Bramhall co-wrote the tune "Dirty Pool," which appeared on Stevie Ray Vaughan's debut album, Texas Flood. He would write or co-write several other songs for the younger Vaughan, such as "Life By The Drop" from SRV's The Sky Is Crying album, and he played the drums on the Vaughan Brothers only album, Family Style.
Bramhall released his debut solo record in 1994, which included appearances from the Vaughans and his own son. He also collaborated with Jennifer Warnes in the 1990s.

Doyle Bramhall II (born 24 December 1968) is an American musician, producer, and songwriter known for his work with Eric Clapton, Roger Waters and many others. He is the son of songwriter and drummer Doyle Bramhall.
When Bramhall was 18, he toured with Jimmie Vaughan's band The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Two years later he co-founded the blues rock band Arc Angels with fellow Austinite Charlie Sexton and members from Stevie Ray Vaughan's rhythm section, Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon. Following the 1999 release of Jellycream, Bramhall's second album and solo debut for RCA, he received phone calls from both Roger Waters and Eric Clapton. Bramhall joined Waters on his In the Flesh tour, playing lead guitar and providing background and lead vocals, replacing Pink Floyd's lead singer and guitarist David Gilmour in the Pink Floyd songs. His performances were recorded on the subsequent live album and DVD, "In the Flesh – Live". Bramhall also played guitar on Clapton's Riding With The King, a collaboration with B.B. King. The album included versions of Clapton's and King's songs, and covers of blues songs—including two tracks from Jellycream.
Bramhall is an affluent area and has been rated the "least lonely" place in Britain.
History
The manor of Bramall dates from the Anglo-Saxon period, when it was held as two separate estates by two Saxon freemen, Brun and Hacun. In 1070, William the Conqueror subdued the north-west of England, and divided the land among his followers. The manor of "Bramale" was given to Hamon de Massey, who eventually became the first Baron of Dunham Massey. The earliest reference to Bramall was recorded in the Domesday Book as "Bramale", a name derived from the Old English words brom meaning broom, both indigenous to the area, and halh meaning nook or secret place, probably by water. De Masci received the manor as wasteland, since it had been devastated by William the Conqueror's subdual. By the time of the Domesday survey, the land was recovering and cultivated again.
Bramhall is a suburb of the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport.
