District of Columbia - The US Explained
Within this small chunk of the United States, a piece of land that could fit inside Rhode Island 17 times over, live nearly 700,000 people, more than the entire populations of Vermont or Wyoming. The history of the country has been shaped inside its halls and buildings, and on its streets and parks, and from this tiny district, decisions have been made that have impacted people across the globe. This is DC - The US Explained.

We’re the 8 Wards that makeup
Washington, D.C.
The capital of the USA
Is what we be
Washington, D.C.
Isn’t part of any state
And is one of the most visited cities in the world isn’t that great
I am Ward 1
I’m the smallest
in terms of land area
But I’m the most densely populated
ward in the District that I’ll share with ya
I am home to
Tivoli Theater, National Zoo
and Rock Creek Park,
Howard University,
And Meridian Hill
are all famous landmarks
How do you do
My name is Ward 2
most of Downtown DC sits within the confines of me
I am home to the White House and World War II Memorial
And the National Mall
which includes the
Washington Monument But that’s not all
You are really great to see
My name is Ward 3
I’m mostly a residential area located in the upper northwest quadrant of the city
Some of my attractions are Chevy Chase Park and Foxhall
Mazza Gallerie, the Avalon and Uptown Theatre, you can visit them all
I sure hope you’re not bored
Because my name is Ward 4
I’m the most northern part of Washington D.C. Maybe you’ve been here before
I’m mostly a Beautiful and diverse collection of neighborhoods

Sunset drive on the way to my hotel in Washington DC, the capital of the USA. Video starts in Arlington, passes through Georgetown, by the White House, and ends by the United States Capitol Building. Enjoy the quiet of these cities while you can! Once domestic and international tourism start again, I think the first year will be very very busy.
Starting Point: https://goo.gl/maps/QYHbdLMNUrBRPAHTA .
Washington, DC, the U.S. capital, is a compact city on the Potomac River, bordering the states of Maryland and Virginia. It’s defined by imposing neoclassical monuments and buildings – including the iconic ones that house the federal government’s 3 branches: the Capitol, White House and Supreme Court. It's also home to iconic museums and performing-arts venues such as the Kennedy Center.

Washington, D.C., formally the District of Columbia and also known as D.C. or just Washington, is the capital city of the United States of America. It is located on the Potomac River bordering Maryland and Virginia, with Congress holding its first session there in 1800. The city was named for George Washington, the first president of the United States and a Founding Father, and the federal district is named after Columbia, a female personification of the nation. As the seat of the U.S. federal government and several international organizations, the city is an important world political capital. It is one of the most visited cities in the U.S., with over 20 million visitors in 2016.
The three branches of the U.S. federal government are centered in the district: Congress (legislative), the president (executive), and the Supreme Court (judicial). Washington is home to many national monuments and museums, primarily situated on or around the National Mall. The city hosts 177 foreign embassies as well as the headquarters of many international organizations, trade unions, non-profits, lobbying groups, and professional associations, including the World Bank Group, the International Monetary Fund, the Organization of American States, the AARP, the National Geographic Society, the Human Rights Campaign, the International Finance Corporation, and the American Red Cross.
The City of Washington was founded in 1791 to serve as the national capital. In 1801, the land, formerly part of Maryland and Virginia (including the settlements of Georgetown and Alexandria), officially became recognized as the federal district. In 1846, Congress returned the land originally ceded by Virginia, including the city of Alexandria; in 1871, it created a single municipal government for the remaining portion of the district.
The city is divided into quadrants centered on the Capitol Building, and there are as many as 131 neighborhoods. The estimated population of 705,749 as of July 2019, makes it the 20th-most populous city in the U.S. and gives it a population larger than that of two U.S. states. Commuters from the surrounding Maryland and Virginia suburbs raise the city's daytime population to more than one million during the workweek. Washington's metropolitan area, the country's sixth-largest (including parts of Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia), had a 2017 estimated population of 6.2 million residents.
A locally elected mayor and a 13-member council have governed the district since 1973. Congress maintains supreme authority over the city and may overturn local laws. D.C. residents elect a non-voting, at-large congressional delegate to the House of Representatives, but the district has no representation in the Senate. District voters choose three presidential electors in accordance with the Twenty-third Amendment to the United States Constitution, ratified in 1961.
