As the range is between the moist eastern coastal zone and the dryer plains to the west, it has provided protection for flora and fauna suited to both habitats. There are over 120 bird species identified on the range, including lories and lorikeets, rosellas and parrots. These animals have become fairly tame due to constant visitor attention and are easily approached.
The most UNDERRATED National Park in NSW - THE WARRUMBUNGLES
Hey guys,
Welcome back to another episode. This week we explore the Warrumbungles National Park, which is located near Coonabarabran in NSW. We've always heard of this national park and have driven past it multiple times but have never taken the time to spot and explore. Its fair to say we were blown away and would rate this as one of the top NPs we've been to in Australia.

Warrumbungles
The ‘Bungles contain some of the most remote and adventurous climbing
on the mainland of Australia. Huge volcanic outcrops, situated well above
the treeline, make for stunning trad lines and jaw dropping exposure. With
little in the way of guidebooks and ambiguous information online the
route finding can be as challenging as topping out on a huge volcanic
spire is rewarding. The climbing and location need to be experienced to
be believed!

Warrumbungle - International Dark Sky Park
Warrumbungle National Park is Australia's only Dark Sky Park.
Its iconic mountain range originated from an extinct shield volcano and it's the perfect destination for bushwalking, climbing and stargazing.
It hosts Australia's largest optical telescope at Siding Spring Observatory, part of the Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics (RSAA) at the Australian National University (ANU).
I spend few nights in the area (and one night at the Observatory) to try and capture the essence of this beautiful area.
Special thanks to NSW National Parks and Siding Spring Observatory.
