The district was named after the larger civil parish of Eastwood, itself named after a long-vanished woodland. The Local Government district was formed from the area of the First District of the former county of Renfrewshire. It was one of nineteen local government districts in the Strathclyde region. The council's headquarters were at Giffnock. The Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994 abolished all of the districts and regions, and the area of Eastwood was included in the East Renfrewshireunitary council area.
The constituency was created for the 1983 general election, when it partially replaced the former East Renfrewshire constituency, following changes in 1975 to local government boundaries.
The East Renfrewshire constituency was re-established for the 2005 general election, with the same boundaries as the Eastwood constituency. Despite the change of name, it is the only constituency in mainland Scotland whose boundaries were unchanged by the 2005 revision of Scottish constituencies.
In 1999, an Eastwood Scottish Parliament constituency was created with the name and boundaries of the Eastwood Westminster constituency. However, while this constituency still exists, its boundaries are now different from the East Renfrewshire UK Parliament seat.
Eastwood is an English surname, originally derived from the Old English words east and wudu, meaning "eastwood". The family would have originally lived to the east of a wood, in an eastern wood or in a place called Eastwood. Notable people with the surname include:
"Walls" is the lead single from The Rocket Summer's album Of Men and Angels. The song was written by The Rocket Summer frontman-and sole member-Bryce Avary, and was released in February 2010. In an interview with AOL, Avary stated that the song is "about struggles and about having issues in your life that you just can't seem to quite get a grip on, whether that's depression or whether that's anything."
Promotion
The Rocket Summer premiered the single in an acoustic performance at To Write Love On Her Arms' Heavy and Light on January 9, 2010. On January 13, 2010, "Walls" became available for listening on the band's MySpace. Shortly after Of Men and Angels's release, Avary performed the album's lead single "Walls" on KDFW's Good Day Dallas and KTBC's Good Day Austin to promote the album.
Walls is the second studio album by An Horse. It was recorded in Vancouver, Canada in Summer 2010, and released on 26 April 2011 in the United States and Canada and on 29 April 2011 in Australia, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland by Mom + Pop Music. It features Kate Cooper on lead guitar and vocals, Damon Cox on drums, and was produced and mixed by Howard Redekopp. The album has been praised for its "gritty, understated approach", but has also received criticism for not deviating substantially from their approach with Rearrange Beds.
Eastwood is a constituency of the Scottish Parliament. It elects one Member of the Scottish Parliament by the first past the post method of election. It is also one of ten constituencies in the West Scotland electoral region, which elects seven additional members, in addition to ten constituency MSPs, to produce a form of proportional representation for the region as a whole.

I was delighted to be able to pay tribute to local community groups such as Elim church, the Moonlight Trust, the Zakaria Education Centre, Darul-Ilm mosque, Shelley community association and many more who have made great sacrifices and gone above and beyond working tirelessly throughout this emergency for the benefit of others.

"It's Deeply Alarming!" Alex Phillips Blasts Shamima Begum's Lawyer Standing For Election
The lawyer who represented Shamima Begum’s family and led a defamation case against Tommy Robinson is set to stand as an independent MP in east London.
Tasnime Akunjee has announced he intends to run in the Bethnal Green and Stepney constituency in Tower Hamlets at the general election.
He cited current Labour MP Rushanara Ali's refusal to support a ceasefire in Gaza, during a vote in Parliament last year, as one of the reasons he was running.
The criminal defence lawyer appeared to compare his campaign to that of George Galloway, who unseated Oona King in the constituency in 2005 when he ran a crusade against the Iraq war.
TalkTV's Kevin O'Sullivan and Alex Phillips are joined by Dr Rennee Hoenderkamp to discuss the lawyer standing as an MP at election.
