V E Day began with Mr Churchill's broadcast officially announcing the end of war in Europe. Londoners took to the streets in celebrations which continued for nearly two days. Outside Buckingham Palace the crowds chanted 'we want the King' and were rewarded by the Royal Family appearing on the balcony. At nine o'clock in the evening the King broadcast to Britain and the Commonwealth.

VE Day: How Great Britain celebrated 75 years ago
Europe is preparing to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the defeat of the Nazis and the end of World War II on Friday 8 May.
At 3pm on 8 May 1945, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill addressed the nation to announce the surrender of Germany.
Celebrations erupted all around Europe and London turned into a giant party.
Many Londoners headed to Buckingham Palace to see the royal family appear on the balcony alongside the prime minister.
After years of conflict and wartime restrictions, people were keen to let loose.
The partying went on long into the night.

The commemorations began with a flypast over London by the Royal Air Force display team the Red Arrows, while RAF Typhoon jets flew over Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast.

Junes been a really good month for us. This week of fishing was off the charts with the amount of mature kings we landed and the amount of steelhead we got to the boat. Excited to see what the rest of the summer has in store for us. Follow us as we troll Lake Ontario for giant king salmon this summer!
