Orbiter 2010 - Fly With Me #12 - Space Shuttle Atlantis Rendezvous and Docking Simulation
This video was recorded Friday, August 2, 2013
Unfortunately I had the wrong audio device selected while recording this video. I thought I checked and double checked all of the sound settings, but Windows defaulted to use the mic that is built-in to my new Webcam instead of using my good Blue Yeti mic. I made 2 short test recordings before recording this long video, and when I listened to those test playbacks, I simply did not notice how low the mic volume was.
Ah well, this was just a test video anyway. This will help me iron out the bugs with the new set up.

Whoa! What an adventure! (for me playing through it all, that is) This is the third time I play through the game, and both first times were Team Path only. I actually didn't know how different it would be to play the other paths. All I sort of knew was that I would have to play solo instead and thus maybe have to figure out only a few new things... boy was I wrong :D
This game reminds me of The Dig (http://youtu.be/EGzX_7ZN8_U) in many ways.
This might be the most work I've put into a longplay yet (done hundreds). There were no complete walkthroughs in either text or video I could follow. To do as much as possible, in...

This is not a tutorial. This is just me doing things and thinking out loud while doing it. If you're watching with the intent of learning something, then hopefully you can pick up some tips by watching me.

10. It’s the Island of Santorini
A common view is that Atlantis was actually part of Santorini, a small island in the East Mediterranean that was partly-destroyed by the mighty Volcano of Thera in 1646 BC. Yeah, a looong time ago. Geologists have suggested that if you reconstruct the island of Santorini, you can see that this complete version, before it was destroyed by the volcano, used to be Plato’s mysterious island of legend!
9. The Black Sea
Some are happy to believe that Atlantis was just a made up story of legend. But others believe it was a real place. Not only that, but it was actually something else. The theory of Atlantis being located in the Black Sea region is a great example of this. It all centers on the rise of ocean levels following the last Ice Age.
8. Under Antarctica
Atlantis is usually believed to have somewhere warm, possibly around the Mediterranean, and you’d probably need your sunscreen (if it had been invented yet). However an American historian thought the truth was very different. And colder! Prof. Charles A Hapgood went on record in the 1950s as believing the mythical island was in fact, part of Antarctica.
7. Is It Based on Truth?
Atlantis is often portrayed as being the perfect society, a peaceful utopia that was very technologically advanced. However, if you look at where the legend started, in Plato’s dialogues written in 330 BC, he describes a place that is just like any other.
According to him, it was a technologically advanced society that was wealthy, and had a very powerful military but it was also corrupt. He claims that Atlantis battled against the city of Athens who came out the hero.
6. It was founded by Lemurians
An old idea about Atlantis is that it’s connected to the lost continent of Lemuria. Lemuria was believed to be located in the Indian or Pacific oceans but their continent sunk due to volcanic activity. They were beings who could travel between dimensions by altering the matter in their bodies. Plate tectonic theory and the existence of other continents strongly discount that this ever existed.
5. Lost in the Bermuda Triangle
Plato talks about how Atlantis was swallowed by the sea in a single day. Even so, you’d think that over the centuries someone would have stumbled on something concrete to prove the island existed right? Well this kind of happened in the late 1960s.
4. It’s in the Bahamas
If you’re in the United States then Atlantis may be closer than you think. To be more precise it could be 50 miles east of Miami! There lies the island of Bimini, part of a chain of islands in the Bahamas. Just 20 feet (6m) under the water there are some mysterious stones which could show the existence of Plato’s fabled kingdom.
3. Founded by Aliens
You know I couldn’t leave this theory out, since so many people out there actually believe this stuff, no thanks to Ancient Aliens on the History Channel! Supposedly aliens landed on our planet in its infancy and helped in the development of our ancient cultures, one of which was Atlantis.
2. It’s in Morocco
A German computer genius named Michael Hübner came up with a unique approach to finding Atlantis in 2008 when he gave a presentation at the Atlantis Conference in Athens. Others had taken an archaeological approach or used mysticism to locate Plato’s fantasy island.
1.Plato Made It Up
I’m sad to say that the most realistic theory is that Atlantis was made up by Plato, the Athenian philosopher who first told the world about it. Plato lived between 424-328 BC. The legendary island with an advanced civilization was described in his Dialogues titled ‘Timaeus’ and ‘Critias’ which were written around 330 BC.
Origins Explained is the place to be to find all the answers to your questions, from mysterious events and unsolved mysteries to everything there is to know about the world and its amazing animals!

To do as much as possible, in the right order, scoring maximum points per path, I had to take pieces of info here and there on the internet and figure some stuff out for myself (urgh, so much research). Did a lot of replaying when I noticed I missed a point, or missed to show something fun/cool/interesting/important.
My final score for each path:
Team: 628 - As shown at the end of that part.
Fists: 616 - Arrived at Atlantis with 323 points + 293 (yes, I know Atlantis can reward a total of 300 points, but only for the "Current" points and if replaying it) for doing Atlantis. According to internet, 617 is probably max, but to get that extra point I would have to defeat the dude I rolled a boulder over. I tried but he was... impossible, literally. I took damage even if I blocked.
Wits: 634 - Arrived at Atlantis with 341 points + 293 for doing Atlantis.
I believe I scored maximum possible "Current" points in each path. To get all possible points in "Total", one would need to replay the game, which is nothing I cared for. To me, only "Current" points is what counts :) I stop Fists and Wits when I arrive at Atlantis because it plays out exactly the same as Team anyway.
Just like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, I simply had to spam high punch, never needed to use block. Too easy. I thought the fights in Fists Path would be much harder, but nope.
The nomads sometimes gives the wrong direction. One time they said the X is to the East, when it was to the West.
I find it odd that after I've used the stone discs on something and try to leave without picking them up, Indy goes back and automatically picks them up, except in one place - the first door in Atlantis that leads into the circle. Wonder why that pick-up is not automated as the discs are still needed inside.
Another odd thing is the dialogue with Sophia after she falls down the hole at the dig site. In both PC and Amiga versions, they show the same text, like "Mndp", "Hrry", etc, but with SPEECH she actually says the proper words, no mumbling. So, with "Mndp" showing above her, she says "I'm in deep", with "Hrry" she says "Hurry!" (of course). So, why show these letters when with speech we can actually hear her say them perfectly? There were many more, some loooong, like 15 letters which might have been 10 perfectly pronounced words. I don't get it why they did it like this. Would make more sense if Sophia actually DID mumble the stuff the way the text showed.
I've used shortcuts in my last 4 adventure longplays now (pressing "O" instead of "Open"). I wonder what you guys think - is that OK? Or do you prefer that I press the worded buttons instead? For me it's easier and faster to use the shortcuts. I could even press the number keys to select the questions/answers if wanted. I guess in most point-and-click adventure games you have to do it with the mouse, but not in these LucasArts/Lucasfilm games (so far anyway). So, if I do more of those games and don't hear any complaints, I'll keep using the shortcuts.
Some sound issues in this game as well, just like with the Last Crusade.
One thing I probably should have shown at the end of the movie is the "Sucker Punch" move. If you don't feel like fighting a bad guy, just hit the right key and they go down, but it doesn't reward any points and doesn't work on bigger and/or boss-type guys (didn't try it, only read it).
02:34:15 - Fists Path
03:18:42 - Wits Path
04:02:31 - Alternative ending
04:04:25 - Drowning (reminds you of someone?). After 3 minutes he says it's time to hold his breath, then 1 minute later he drowns. I edited out the time in-between the messages.
04:04:58 - Some different game over messages.
